great topic. i just think it's critical for black parents to home-school. this might mean prospective parents getting the ol' ducks in a row prior to having kids, so that home-schooling remains an affordable option (i.e. securing housing, appropriate employment (such as home-based) or building savings, etc.). i've seen too many black children just destroyed in public schools. i actually quit a MAT program because i just could not see going in to public schools and promoting that nonsense they call an education system with a smile. i know of one family (relatives actually) who didn't even have much of a home-schooling program, but kept their daughter at home because they didn't like what was going on in public schools. Relative made sure her daughter could read, write, and such, she put her in music lessons and got her involved with other black children at church. the girl is 20 years old and well adjusted, has friends, is employed and helping take care of her aging parents with no issues.
my point is, that this is an emergency situation. i could go on and on, but the bottom line is, parents who care, need to get their kids out of these racist public schools and either go private (as in non-government funded) or homeschool. peace
