I am trying to figure out why we keep equating someone being rich as a bad thing. I do not know about anyone else, but I know for myself money is going to help me do the things that I want to do for my family and for my community. I want to build WEALTH, so that I have something to pass on to my future kids/nieces/nephews/cousins/etc. I want to have enough money to retire my mom so that she can do what she wants to do and she'll know that if she ever needed anything that I'd be able to give that to her. I want to build community centers for Black Youth throughout the area, and so on and so forth.
I know that these goals take a considerable amount of money.
What people need to realize is that all of this is a game. The shit is chess, it ain't checkers, and we got to start realizing this soon before we get checkmated. There are reasons why the rich stay rich: yes, a good portion of it is because of white supremacy, but it is also because they did the homework about finances, and how to plan for their future. You got to learn how the game is played if you expect to beat it.
I think that true freedom comes from knowing that you did your part in insuring that your family and your community are a bit more well off than when they came into the world. Of course we aren't going to gain freedom overnight, but what our people should be looking for is the future; however you want to contribute to the cause, do it and don't question your actions.
