Black people, guns, & the supreme court ruling

The recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the individual right to own firearms can have a dynamically powerful affect on the Black community if we take advantage of it in the proper way. Polititions, Jesse Jackson, and other cooperative sheeple are whining and complaining that this rulling will somehow magically transform this country into a war zone, while they completely ignore the fact that with the excpetion of New york city, Chicago, Washington D.C. and a few other select places with large Black populations can not only have guns in their home but may acquire a concealed carry permit to carry them on the streets as well.

The only thing that gun bans accomplish is preventing otherwise law abiding citizens from protecting themselves and creating a target rich environment for criminals. The police had excellent response times in both the Lane Bryant massacre* in Tinnley Park and the Northern Illinois university massacres**. Unfortunately, their excellent response times were not able to save a single soul. In both cases all of the victims were all dead before the police arrived. The only people in a position to have stopped or limited the carnage in either massacre were the victims themselves. How different might the outcome have been if even one of the victims had been armed and able to fight back??? Why does the city of Evanston, Chicago, or State of Illinois require me, by law, to be a defenseless, helpless victim??? Prior to 1987 only 8 states had concealed carry In the last 21 years 40 states have adopted concealed carry laws. Not a single state turned into "Dodge City" as the anti-gun nuts predicted. In fact the crime rate drops by an average of 20 to 25% when concealed carry laws are passed.
Poloticians need to stop wasting taxpayer monies on failed gun bans and give all honest law abiding citizens the right not only to have a gun in their home but to carry one on the streets. Illinois and Wisconsin need to join the other 48 states and allow concealed carry. What we need are facts, not fear mongering.

Let me ask some retorical questions (meaning don't give me an answer, but think about it, and answer yourself). How many members on this forum live in states that allow concealed carry ( everybody that doesn't live in Illinois or Wisconsin)? How many people who live in those states have acquired their concealed carry permit? Why not? Of those who have their permits how many have sought out professional training? Why not?

The biggest myth of all myths regarding defensive shooting is: "I COULD SHOOT STRIGHT IF I HAD TO!!!" No, you really can't. Any seasoned vet who has seen the elephant (meaning who has actually been in a real gunfight) will tell you that in a real shootout your skill will be about half of what it is on your best day at the range due to stress, adrinalin dump, etc. If you have a gun, get some professional training, shooting is a learned skill, not a magic trick!

* In January of 2008 six women were shot of which 5 of them died by a deranged gunman who escaped in Tinley Park, Illinois.
** On Feb. 14, 2008 five people were killed and 21 people injured by a deranged gunman who subsequently commits suicide at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois.
