Culture is the totality of the people's willful behavior at its origins. After some time this behavior seems to become a part of their genetic makeup. If you take into account the African, Harvard trained professional who has displaced himself from his roots, no matter how hard he tries to assimilate, turn on some James Brown and he is African again! If you look at traditions in the Holy Roller, and Pentecostal Church, the "Holy Ghost" that is "caught", looks very African in nature. If you make a comparison between Vodun "possessions" and the "Holy Ghost", you will see the similiarities. Our "Africaness" may be buried under confusing theology, but it is still there! Thus, our cultural selves is aligned with our African roots regardless of how we attempt to move past it! Spirituality is culturally rooted as well!!!
