For this would be by the existence of, knowledge, truth, justice, beauty, validity, mind, and language of the subject's perspective, particularly feelings, beliefs, and desires a change of "our" perception of our sensory experience totally credited to our interpersonal experience a failure in the White mind *(a vice- immoral, and depraved; also to contradicting traditional male social function)
I asked My Black Psychology Professor if African Psychology should be seen as "Holostic" or does he see African Psychology as becoming a certified practice along Eurocentric Psychology.
Prior to this question, My Professor explained why African people cannot use the European yardstick for are mental mind state.
He also said European Psychology was not like math; an exact science, unlike anthropology which European Psychologist in practicle theory seem always to change.
He said African Psychology would/should be Holostic
I said, Well with the promotion and propaganda behind Universal Health care, the "exact science" notion of European Psychology would remain an "exact science" once HMO and Health care become universal because Psychology is a health care. lil Afrika | It all goes back to culture. Not race, not class but culture. And for Afrikans a very important biochemical (neuro-psychological) mediator of our cultural expression is Melanin.
All people have cultural ways and that culture dictates their conceptual framework, worldview, definitional systems and view of the world. When we reflect on the psychocultural and educational foundation of Western society, we appreciate that it is targeted at the development and maintenance of the left hemisphere of the brain (the intellectual, logical, articulate, concrete brain). This is the brain that differentiates between things, separating wholes into parts, analyzing and enabling us to deal only with sequential phenomena such as mathematics and logic. The left brain (the primary and predominate brain used by the European group as per their conceptual framework/the way they think and develop thought) is segmented, serial, linear, deductive, segregative and material /tangible grounded. If they can't count it, it don't exist. That is why they generally teach using subject based and linear methods. This is not to say subject based is bad , but integrated works to. White people practice something called solipism, from solo, That the 75 kg white middle class male is the sole yeardstick to measure normal against.ITS EUROCENTRICITY BEING IMPOSED ON EVERYONE ELSE.
On the other hand, the right hemisphere of the brain (historically facilitated and heavily relied upon for the educational development of our Afrikan ancestors) mediates spiritual, abstract, creative, aesthetic, artistic, athletic and rhythmic phenomena-MELANIN. This is the brain that notes similarities between things and relates them to each other and the whole— integrating and relating and thus unifying. This is why RBG's academic approach is an integrated one.
You may find Kemetology, History, Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Creative Productions/ Mass Media, Economics, Philosophy and Spirituality themes in various combinations in any given classroom.
Any time you talk about psychology or behavioral science in general, you are talking about education...The two can't be separated.
Real education for Afrikan people is directly connect to the people, not a sterile hands off intellectual process where a black professor can’t even say we when teaching about the Black/ Afrikan experience without being accused of being non-objective.
So there is really no exact, pure or objective science from a practical point of view Pragmatic, nor is their only the white way to teach / learn them. This is the European's false concept of universalism. He will tell you that math and physic and chemistry are pure and objective.THE FACT THAT THEY ALL OCCUR IN A PARTICULAR SOCIO-CULTURAL CONTEXT SUBJECTIFIES THEM. If this were not the case then "why did Einstein and Oppinhimer etc. use their mathematical and physics genius to build atomic bombs to kill people instead of solar energy converters?" Because all science is taught and practiced in a socio-political and psycho-cultural context. NOTHING IN THE WORLD HAPPENS OUTSIDE OF THE CONTEXT OF POLITICS AND CULTURE. The European cultural way is war mongrel, hegemonic, de-spiritualized and grounded in death.Their educational system is only a failure to us as Afrikan people because it is anti-Afrikan. For them their education is the best in the world and a monumental success, because it defends, defines and develops in the image and interest of white people.
EDUCATION DOSN'T MAKE CULTURE, CULTURE MAKES EDUCATION. IT DEPENDS ON THE CULTURAL CONTEXT IN WHICH A SUBJECT IS BEING OFFERED THAT MOST DETERMINES IT USEFULNESS TO ANYGIVEN ETHNIC GROUP.
Remember what Dr. Wright said at the outset of his presentation on the video above and the examples he gave (Meslow and Marxism), "We can't use white definitions ("culture") to define Black phenomena." Most of what is called Afrikan studies, Black Studies, Black Psychology, Afrikan Psychology in traditional collages is present and taught out of a white academic conceptual framework--And the professor can be Black of the ace of spade with "good" intentions.
That is why we relate to the concept of holistic / wholistic health so well.
It is consistent with our cultural way and thought process, when we are in our Afrikan mind. We see the mind, body and spirit relationships as one. In other words, our right brain provides for a mode of thinking that is synthetical, holistic, dynamic, congregative and metaphysically/spiritually grounded..."IT A MELANIN THANG"
