Change Your Story, Change Your Life
Change Your Story, Change Your Life
I’m sure you have all heard of the Law of Attraction. There are videos, cds and books all about the subject. Our very own Damon Clark talked about it in his speech, The World is Mind. The law of attraction is defined: that which is like unto itself, is drawn. We are vibrational beings, and your emotions are your guidance system that let’s you know if you are attracting what you want or what you do not want. This means that all of your experiences, good or bad, are attracted to you by you. This all starts with your thoughts. The manifestations of your thoughts come through how you feel. When you are feeling negative emotion (depression, guilt, shame, embarrassment, anxiety, blame) then your vibration is not aligned with who-you-really are, and you are pinching yourself off from an abundant flow of well-being, and therefore you are experiencing that which you do not want because the law of attraction gives you more of what you are vibrating.. But, when you are feeling positive emotion (appreciation, joy, confidence, and love being the strongest) you are aligned with who you really are, or your source energy and therefore you will notice that you are experiencing more of what you do want. The best thing about it is that you have control over all of it. You create your own destiny. You’ve heard all the sayings, “Ask and it is given”, “You can do anything you put your mind to”, The little engine that could declared, “I think I can, I think I can” Ralph Waldo Emerson is quoted as saying, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right”. Every creation began with a thought. When you change your thoughts your vibration starts to shift. If you want to manifest your desires, you have to change your thoughts; you have to change your story. Some may say. “Well, I’m facing reality”, I’m not gonna lie to myself”, “I’m telling it like it is.” If you continue to tell the story of what is, you will continue to experience more of what is. You have to tell your better-feeling story, and you don’t have to lie to yourself either. You can start out by saying, “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” Let me give you an example of and old story, telling it like it is, and an example of a new, better-feeling story. I’m going to use money in my examples. Although money is not the answer to everything; in our society money equates freedom and it is easier to focus on the grander scheme of things we are not concerned with financial strain. In the book Money and the Law of Attraction, by Jerry and Esther Hicks, I states there isn’t anything I cannot be, do or have, and the universe will yield to you anything that you desire. Money is as available to me as the air I breathe. There is an unlimited supply of Well-being. So I know what you are all thinking…Where’s my stuff? Here’s the old story about money: “I’m broke, I want and need more money! It seems like I am always just getting by. I just wish I had more money left over to do the things that I want to do. But there is never any left over because gas is so high and even our food prices are soaring…”Even though I am saying I want more money, I am really telling the story of the lack of money instead of the having…if you continue to tell the story of lack, you will continue the downward spiral, you have to change our story:
“I like the idea of money being as available to me as the air I breathe. It’s nice to image having a windfall of money to do whatever I wish. When I really look at the positive aspects of my situation, I am already truly blessed. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could take my children on a trip around the world? I can just see their faces with their eyes wide with wonder and excitement…
Or for any situation,
“I know I’m having a tuff time right now, but I will get through this; just like I have made it through countless times. This is evidence that I am a survivor. I find strength in knowing this. The best thing about this whole experience is that I have clearly defined what it is that I do not want. I know as I focus on the things that I do want, I will begin to feel better and the better it gets, the better it gets”.
It doesn’t matter how you tell your better feeling story, but pay attention to how you feel. When you feel excited, expectant, even relieved, you will start to see evidence little by little. It is a gradual change, but as you pay attention to the changes and focus on and appreciate them, you sill start to see more evidence, which will give you more confidence and belief in yourself. It all comes down to one thing that just about all religions teach. Keeping the faith-Ask and it is given. Change your story and you can change your life. Because the better it gets, the better it gets.
