I have read that Jesse Jackson has been an FBI informant since his late-teens. Some of his "recollections' and assertions about his role and whereabouts (King died in his arms) during the King assination have been revealed as untrue.
Of course he's going to deny that there was a rift, he's been riding on King's coat-tails his entire "public life." I am suspicious of him, his history and his motives, and would be inclined to believe the author over him. I don't recall seeing the King family and Jackson together.
Come to think of it, doesn't if seem weird at least that he has not offered to fund-raise or campaign to keep the King Center out of gov't hands?
