As an instructor to homeschooled students as well as a tutor to children in the elementary school system, I would definitely encourage people to consider homeschooling their children while being connected to support groups. There is simply no need to keep our children in the public sKKKool system where we KNOW their learning styles and needs will be ignored, neglected and dismissed. I don't get it. By now, it is fairly commonplace to everyone that there is a lot of nonsense in the public education system and that this system is not designed to educate black children, and yet we leave our children in these systems to rot... then talk about them like they are worthless when they don't graduate or underachieve.
When you are homeschooling your children, you are the boss. Their learning style becomes the most important factor in determining the curriculum and the teaching tactics. It makes no sense that Geometry students are going through an entire year of geometry class and still saying, "what can I do with this stuff?" How absurd! It is a sign that they are not being taught according to their learning and lifestyle. Geometry students should be able to build their own homes and furniture with ease. Algebra students should be able to figure out unknown quantities of orders for a resturaunt or grocery stores, so that they'll never be in stock. Calculus students should be able to tell which motor oils and which gasoline brands produce better car performance on the road.
People really ought to start homeschooling their kids and stop yappin about the plight of black youth. Take control of their education!
(Ok... I'm done)
