Nowadays the black men and black women are ashamed of each other. Or at least many are ! It's really sad that the black woman is ashamed of the black man for his seemingly inability, or unwillingness, to protect himself and family. And the record of number of black females having the lowest marriage rate of any other group is nothing to be proud ... We see the rejection of young black girls by young black boys starting earlier and earlier. I know 12- 17 young black boys who are only pursuing and dating the "prettier" white, hispanic, mixed, or asian girl !

We are a race under siege in a white/ kkk / neo nazi’s dominated world ! The only solution I see if to keep our resources within our race, to date / marry our own is a basic way to ensure the survival of our people because the black family is an endangered institution. That’s a fact . So you know what my vote was!!!

First of all Kwilu, 12-17 is nothing. I taught a 3rd grade class (ages 8-9) a few years ago, and witnessed firsthand black boychildren blatantly rejecting the flirtations of black girlchildren and instead chasing white girlchildren. For brevity's sake, I'll just say that I've seen little black girls try hard to win the admiration of little black boys, only to watch the boys devote all their attention to little white girls. I've seen the black boys and white girls at that young age passing phone number and "will you go out with me?" notes back and forth. What is interesting is that no such trend is visible among black girls and white boys or any other mixed pair of race & gender. I am in the classroom with increasingly diverse combinations of students, including Bosnians, Chicanos, various Asians and various Afrikans, and what I see (and this extends into the adult world) is the dating pool expanding for no one other than the black male. Today, the black male has the greatest opportunity ever to decide whether or not he is going to sell out his sister and by extension his culture by taking advantage of the "multicultural" dating offer that is being brandished about in front of him.

That said, I don't want someone who will throw his manhood any and everywhere.

That's why I find it weird that suggestions are being made that black women are harming black men. From what I've observed it's always been black women who have been keen to be loyal to their men. Nowadays there's an increasing number of black women who are going for white men - given the black man's (not all black men) history of rejecting black females who can blame them?

@ thoughtful girl,i live in city with half million blacks,ok toronto,is multi cultural as well,the pop here is mostly lots of rastas,black christians,l l i dateless in toronto( gonna makea movie called" conscious black man from brazil,dateless in toronto lol )

so i am caught betweena rock and hard place,asa poet,i attend many of the poetry here and perform,all the sisters are rastafarian that wear the head rap and if i was rastafarian and wear the head rap and be spouting jah dis and jah dat,i guess my dating chances would improve huh lmaoo

also,because iam fairskin man,thats put me in different situation,because iam not jamaican,most of the jamaicans in toronto,be saying marcus garvey this and dat,they are the ones with most problems,i hada chance one time,to datea continental african,but i moved here to toronto, i guess,iam gonna geta head wrap and be speaking " jah rastafari!" my dating chances will increase huh

By "mixed" I am talking about people born of one white parent and one black parent. Especially those who have hair straight and their skin are relatively light. Many of their features, such as their noses, lips, etc are European. The society rush to claim them "beautiful," supposedly they have "good hair" and a "good skin" which are euphemism in the black community for straighter hair and lighter skin. This has been going on for awhile….this goes back to the days of slavery!

I am a woman 100% Kongolese brown in color with big nose, thick lips, and kinky hair. On a daily basis I hear things like "you are pretty to be light and damn near white is right, I will never date a dark woman you are ugly like the rest of them, etc." These comments are all from black men of various hues. In Congo people thrive on the fact that they are going to have a marriage with a biracial, a person that either has or claims to have Belgian, French, Spanish, or whatever non-black ancestry. In Congo the mixies (biracials) hold themselves up as being better than dark-skinned blacks and even say that they are not black. Once back home a racist biracial girl boasted in my face that her mixing with whites was making more of her, because her and her mixed children would never be "N*GGERS". I WAS SHOCKED I WAS LITERALLY IN RAGE!

WE THE DARK-SKINNED SISTERS AREN'T WE BEAUTIFUL? AREN'T OUR EXPERIENCES INTERESTING? Why "the real Black Queen" look white, blond, blue-eyed? Look mixed like Halle Berry, someone like Alicia Keys, Michael Michelle, OR Mariah Carey? And I am disgusted by the way the mass media promotes the idea that biracial women are (or should always be) drawn to black men. There are scores of them who prefer white men and the increase in white male/ biracial or black female marriages is a testament to that fact.

We dark-skinned blacks deserve to be depicted in the mass media. YES, YES, and YES. It is important for everyone to be able to see images that are similar to theirs when we look in the mirror. We deserve to be recognized in all forums. We make up a great part of the black race. Looking at a lot of the mass media, you'd think we don’t exist. I could go on an on about this ….

Personally I want to marry a NATIONALIST AFRICAN (someone who want our own ideology, own land, want to separate from Europeans and do for himself). Interracial dating Oh God no!!! It's like we forgot our roots, what white people did to us. My life is about uplifting black people (men & women), and bringing us together...not finding ways to separate us. It's just a matter of choice !

Topics about mixed couples, multiracials, interracial dating / marriage, colorism, and self-hatred will constantly rear their ugly heads within the black community. And of course I think the viewpoint of sisters like me need to be brought to the forefront.

( half million) you would think,that,it would be easy,not so,i gots to date my beautiful afrikan woman eiither brazil or afrika,one in brazil,did something to me that cost me arm and leg to break it,i found out she did somethin to keep me,women in kamdomble,they know stuff,that i dont know,but iam about to learn hehe

it is kind of sad,that those women told you that,ya know,they are brainwashed and colonized,those are the effect of leopold and the belgium colonization in the kongo.

Sad, but true sista Nia Maishani!! Black girls learn abandonment very early also because they watch mommy who get used to be abused and abandoned by black men and think that it's normal. Black boys also grow up with these black mothers who are also in the role of fathers, hence (I think) the inability of black men to appreciate the femaleness of black women . So here you may have the origin of this lack of esteem building for young black men and women .

Well, many black women have the aversion to the thought of being with an "Afrocentric" black man, so I believe you are better off not dating many black women of this country. As for the "Afrocentrist" black women who only see your "consciousness" through your African garbs and dreadlocks, believe me you should not be with them either .

Yes brother, this biracial girl is one of the victims of the damage inflicted on people in my country. After the Belgians (and the entire white race) raped and molested us, how easy is for a Kongolse woman to want to be with one ??
