I'd like to extend thanks and warmth to the new union of Nesayem and Revelation. May The Creator continually bless your union as you two walk through this life and the next together. P.E.A.C.E.

Like most of us here, what I look for within a mate is Rootedness to the core. That is, being rooted in who he is genetically-- mentally, physically and spiritually. When I say genetically, I am not talking about whether his eyes are brown or grey, whether his skin is this dark or this light, whether he is tall or short, what size is his nose or lips or arms or clothing, what is his hair texture or style or anything else superficial. If I have learned nothing else through my experiences, I learned early on that overattendance to "appearance" always, ALWAYS means some critical non-physical trait is being neglected--thus the attempt to compensate or overcompensate through making things "appear" to be together. To place equal value on the conspicuous-superficial as is placed on meaningful qualities is to devalue and miss out on the fuller (yet inconspicuous) benefit of the latter. When I say genetically, I mean all that is deep within the encoding that is manifested as melanin--regardless of gradation. When I say mentally and spiritually, I mean the brother knows what type of brother he is--who he is--by ancestral nature, and with this knowledge, consistently strives to maintain awareness and live accordingly. These few and seemingly simple expectations are too much to ask of most people--even those who consider themselves conscious. Basically, in order to embody these qualities in a true sense, a person really has to reject every value they have ever been taught by western uncivilisation. This is a process which requires one to work against the grain on a daily basis, refusing to fall off. Unfortunately, most people--even Afrikans here and abroad--are out here trying to find their next instant gratification tool and/or their next trophy--in (primarily the shell of) another human being. As conscious people, we must evolve beyond that type of thinking.

i would like to expand a little bit, sis! clothes dont make the man,nor the woman,a man is nota man, because what he wears and the number of the woman he went out with,a woman is nota woman because she wears make up and dress pretty( thats what my grandmother taught us) and based on that,i base myself, because actions speak louder than words, because social conditions determine awareness, the problem with contnental afrikans, that are christianized, they come to the west and look for subterfuges, some of them, that have reacheda certain level of confort and privellege, end up with white women, thats because they forsake their culture, for the culture of the majority, like chinua achebe mentions on his book when the character fights between tradition and western values,it is due fora collision course.what they llack is cutlural awareness and knowledge of self,by going to major western educational institutions they think, they have aimed high, after that, they can not think independantly because, whoever they work for, wont let dem,be themselves,so they becomea slave for the institutions they work for. more and more,i see continental afrikans with white women,i just wonder what the village elders and people would say when they arrive with their yurugus in their perspective tribes and places

Love is beautiful and powerful, especially when you find someone with whom you connect with on all levels. When a love like that is found, hold on to it and never let it go. A love like yours is sacred,do not allow negative energies to enter your world. May your love stay as strong as you are,Warriors.

I too like BlackQueen7980, am told that i am quite picky, but thats only because i have expectations, that i really don't want to compromise on. I don't know if its because of my age or where i live, but to find a strong, conscious, famliy orientated, community orientated, spritual, pan-african, educated as well as headucated, african warrior, who i have a spritual and mental connection with, that are not my friends is really hard. That is why i don't really date, or go out with anyone at the moment because i don't want to involve myself in anyone that isn't any of those things. This may indeed be too idealistic of an ideal partner, but i have time to find out! |
