| My friend and inferior My friend and inferior
The overall Caucasian perception of Afrikans in America has not changed in many respects. Indirectly, we are still led to believe we are inferior socially and psychologically. The cultural dynamics in America are overwhelmingly repressive and polarizing. The social entity, that’s is white supremacy, strangles any concept or ethnic creed that contradicts its validity. In attempt to sustain cultural dominance, the Caucasian code of ethics is embedded in the sub-conscious mind. Any and everyone under its philosophical umbrella are considered inferior or subservient to it. As if, Caucasian “know-how” must be maximized to compensate for our lacking the propensity to be self-sufficient psycho-socially collectively. Even the qualities attributed to the talented tenth in our community are painted as testaments of Caucasian cultural influence and not of the individual. I am sure many whom reticulated through their euro-centric institutions of education would disagree. However, this fact is found in every aspect of our society. Subliminal messages bombard the Afrikan sub-conscious continuously and multi-directionally. We are socialize institutionally to seek Caucasian validation through emulation. Our perception of intelligence, prosperity, beauty, and ironically, even our definition of what it means to be black is filtered through this process of validation. Whenever there is an attempt to liberate the inner Afrikan consciousness, immediately a sense of apprehension , distrust, or disinterest arises. If the notion, concept, ideology or methodology is not accepted by the general Caucasian perspective it is reputed. For those still not convince they are conditioned to associate negativity with being black answer these questions: Why are Afrikans generally excepted in the professional arena when they act less Afrikan and more Caucasian? Why is open expression of heritage via, ethnic hair styles and foreign attire frowned upon in our and their communities? Why do we place value on culturally bias systems of measuring intelligence , such as, institutional certifications of validation, language, SAT scores, and IQ test etc. There are thousands of instances found in everyday life, where we to turn to the Caucasians paradigm . However, the real question is why? Could it be that naturally we, the weak emulate them, the strong? Or, maybe their perception is white, pardon my error, is right, and therefore we need not bother ourselves with the stresses of independent thought and self-determination. The problem, in my opinion, is mass manipulation by utilizing positive and negative reinforcement. That’s right, we are and were conditioned to be more like them and less like us. This is done to prevent our community from organizing its strengths to develop in autonomy. To form a nation you must have unity, to have unity you must have a common identity. As long as our perceptions as Afrikans are filtered through a tolerable system of approval, we will never have true and impartial unity. We do not have to assimilate to be accepted, especially when affirming our inferiority is the condition of the assimilation. To the system: we are not your inferior, nor your friend.
