Ile Ori priests, Iya Oshara Ifayele, Iya Senakhu Riddick and Iya Fasina Adelaja have been selected to provide spiritual support to evacuees who would like an alternative option for religious counsel. Aware that New Orleans is and was a very culturally diverse city with a wealth of Orisa Priests and other traditional African religious practitioners, Iya Ta'Shia, founder and presiding priestess of Ile Ori, contacted organizers of the event to offer the temple's services. Iya Ta'Shia had noticed in a press release that the religious clergy available to evacuees were all of one faith.
"This was not the fault of the organizers, it was just a matter of them not having immediate accessibility to the Orisa community in Colorado. We want the spiritual community of Denver and abroad to always know that we, the Orisa community in the United States, are a qualified and well-trained resource for those who practice indigenous faiths." Says Iya Ta'Shia
If there are any Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Rita evacuees in need of prayer, libation, spiritual counsel and support through an African-based religious system, please contact Iya Ta'Shia Asanti, Ile Ori Ogbe Egun at (720) 988-0808 or via e-mail at
