A WORKSHOP SERIES BY IYANIFA OMITADE ADEDIRAN

STRENTHENING COMMUNITY THROUGH ORISA STUDIES

Iyanifa Omitade Adediran has over 15 years of experience as an initiated elder in Afrikan tradition. SHe has been initiated into the mysteries of Yemoja, Palo, Egungun, Iyaami, and most recently Ifa. She also holds a Ph.D in psychology and lives happily in BUllet Tree, Belize Central America.

All Lectures will take place at the Arts and Entertainment Center @ 3026 University Ave. San Diego, CA

Tues March 28 6-8pm.
Basic Understanding of Various Afrikan Diasporic Paths: Ifa, Condomble, Vodun, Santeria, and Palo.
This teaching will cover various Afrikan traditions within the
diaspora and how Ifa tradition has informed their development.

Thurs March 30 6-8pm.
Creating rituals: Altars, baths, Orin, and Oriki.
This teaching will cover the use of simple rituals to heal yourself and clean your home. She will also discuss the Orisa and various herbs and natural objects sacred to them.

Sunday April 2 4-6pm.
Healing the community: How to apply Orisa tradition to our daily lives.
This teaching will cover methods of how to use Afrikan Spiritual tradition to heal Afrika and the global Afrikan family.


the cost is $20.00 per individual session.- $40.00 if you want to attend all sessions.

Ok they need to be coming to the midwest! either that or I need to rent a tourbus to do a nationwide conciousness tour. So many things going on that I can't get too...and I am studying Ifa and KMT spirituality..I love them both and use them interchangeably at times..example if i need to pray/do an Oriki to a NTRU..but its only english..so I turn to and honor the Orisha that is equivalent to the NTRU i desire to offer to or honor..

Iya Omitade was involved in my own initiation. She has some serious Ase and is a no-nonsense elder w/ lots of knowledge and character. I would recommend that anyone that is within driving distance go check her out. One of my godbrothers, an Iyawo Esu will be there as well. Good people, strongly committed to being better people.

There is supposed to be a summer conference in Kansas City, MO. When I have more details, I will post them. There is tons of things going on in MI, WI, IL & OH all year 'round. Where you at Detroit?

There is a great book called Egyptian Yoga that goes very deeply into the philosphy of KMT Spirituality. I found reading it fascinating. I also took a course at University of Creation Spirituality from an Orisa Priestess named Lateish called African American Spirituality. We went over African rituals, philosophy and the concept of honoring our ancestors. I must say that that class totally changed my life. I realized that most of my belief system and way of thinking was really from Africa. Some how without even knowing it I had formed a belief system that meshed with the belief system of my ancestors. It was a very healing experience. I would suggest that every black person study African spirituality if only a little.

ifa,no demaguogyn here,i want straight answers without philosophizing it,or big circles,me and others that do belong to this board( who lives in kanada,have vast interest in afrikan spiritual systems) will she be able to come to kanada? i will be waiting for the answer,i know,you have degrees and stuff,right now,i need concrete answers and concrete sollutions,

Detroit Temple?
I just posted the name of a temple from Detroit in the Temple Directory. It is ran by a Nigerian born Awo (Babalawo)

Coming to Canada?
Kweku, if you want to contact Iya Omitade and ask about a trip to Cananda I can get you an email address (she travels a lot, calling both Brazil and California home if I am not mistaken). She travels at request and I don't think Canada is too far to go. The question is whether she has a PLANNED trip to Cananda. If not, you will have to send for her, which is a process you and I have discussed before.

KMT Yoga?
I am not sure what a book on KMT Yoga has to do with Orisa Studies or building community.....We are talking about spending time with a Priestess that has STELLAR character, DOWN TO EARTH sensibilities, is an excellent teacher and above par spiritual elder with many years of experience in successfully performing spiritual sciences (rituals) that aided people all over the world. Now if someone wants to get involved in traditional kemetic ritual (spiritual sciences) yoga included, I can refer them to some good communities and temples as well.
