allowing someone to divine for you "over the internet" ?? bad. talking to you by phone and arranging a reading that way. okay. sending you photo and arranging a reading that way. okay as well. (and by "okay" i mean "gets the job done, but not most desireable way of cultivating a spiritual relationship w/ a priest.") goin in person - the best and most reliable way, if you and diviner dont know each other. but over the internet? please...most priests would classify this as one thing: fraud. (your word "fake" isnt so bad either) we can do divination with you there or not there, but not knowing you, not being able to confirm your name, not even being sure if we are interpeting your written inquiry correctly...lol also this is a fellowship, community-based process. this ultimately requires a physical presence. if you are ready to walk the path, then you gotta really step out and get involved the right way. many of us travel lots of miles to connect to communities. the road is not just the journey but the sacrifice along the way. Spiritual DEVELOPMENT, not spiritual convenience. lol (not to suggest that you are trying to get over, but that you should view any difficulties you encounter as a PART of the experience)

I just visited that site ifafoundation.org. Now, just the other day I was reading the good information about homosexuality and our spiritual systems and how it is not allowed by the Vodu/ Abosom/ Orisha etc., Even read the part about a Vodu that had done had enough and killed a homosexual woman who kept promising to change and never did. I'm reading this site and trying my best not to puke. Homosexual "Babalowos" and all dat. Am I wrong in wondering why the Orishas are not killing these people or whether or not the Orishas are killing these people?

I will respond to your question by asking more:
I have said it before, you never know how someone privately pays for their transgressions. I would focus less on "ifafoundation" and more on genuine expressions of the tradition. Trust me, they will get their just rewards..they may already be getting it. You just can't see it.

In answer to your 2nd question, I say no. I was rolling off of the information I read just the other day about homosexuality. I remember that it stated that we are not to kill homosexuals, even though the Vodu decided to do it anyway. I can respect that. I've heard the reasoning before about how we deserve what we get because we know better, but they (white people) don't so we shouldn't expect that they get punished for their immorality just as severely as we do, sometimes even at all because they're just being who they are. Ofcourse I don't buy it. I also understand what you're saying about how they could indeed be experiencing punishment that we just don't know of which is why I worded my my question in my initial post the way I did. Your 3rd question is a toughie. What you're proposing doesn't sound/ feel right to me, but if it is REALLY the Orisha/ Vodu/ Abosom doing it then that wouldn't actually be a deterrent to me. I think about Sekhmet and I think about the way this world is right now and sometimes I do feel like we need to scrap all this and start over. It doesn't bother me when I read about Sekhmet killing indiscriminately in a world plagued with sin. It doesn't even bother me to think that I may be one of those killed indiscriminately. This isn't the ideal solution to me at all, but honestly, I feel that. When I think about the situation with Joseph Kony using those children as soldiers in his war over in Uganda I would love to kill those who deserve it and save the children, even though they are seasoned killers themselves. Then I also realize that from the very beginning there is probably a chain of events that has been set off that wouldn't end with the killing of that man and the safe return and treatment of those children. A chain of events ongoing that I don't even know about that may or may not come right back to those children as children or adults because of something they did to someone else a long time ago that froze their entire life in that moment. I wonder how that could ever end. I feel that this is why Africa is in such torment right now. Traumatic events the sources of which are likely thousands of years in the making. We take trauma with us and we associate with others and touch them with it and then they go and do the same to someone else. When I read about the cosmologies of a few different ethnicities in Africa sometimes there is a theme of how the world was created and then something went wrong and the Supreme Being decided to destroy that world and create another anew. It sounds like it all happened in a flash. There is never a whole lot of detail given. I just wonder. In answer to your 4th question, I say yes. Still, I do not think that it is unknown to these people at ifafoundation or any others like them that their behavior is wrong. From what I have seen, they know what is right and what is wrong. To me, this is why they always advance an image campaign to people all over the world. They even try to fool themselves into thinking that what they are doing is right even in the midst of doing something absolutely evil. They are extremely aware. They know. They have simply made a decision. Even now, possibly no one knows better than they do about what they are doing to the planet with their "technology." They have all the data. They can hold press conferences and break down what this part of the planet and that part of the planet is going to be/ look like in the next 50, 100, 200 years. However, they have made a decision. They know of how much good can be done if we use wind, water and solar power instead of oil. They know of the heavy burden that would be lifted from the poor people in the world. However, they have made a decision. They know it's wrong because those of them that are poor know what their more powerful kinfolk are doing and are fully capable of expressing how wrong it is. However, when poor/ downtrodden "white people" get into positions of power they do the same thing as we are aware of in New Zealand, Tasmania, Australia etc., In answer to your 5th question, I say no. I guess a brother runs low on morale sometimes because we see what our folk are going through a lot of times and we don't see a silver lining. We're pretty much just watching our people getting wiped out and watching all types of atrocities happen while not being able to have, even remotely, the type of affect we would like. At the same time, the enemies are going strong. Specifically on this issue, I don't hear good things. I haven't heard that it's slowing down a bit; this whole "initiating" white people into our priesthoods and such. Sometimes these things just get to a brother. Htp
