I've just tried olive oil soap and I've used shea butter on my skin and locs for about two years now. I prefer using all natural products from African stores, even though it's a bit expensive...it's worth it to keep my skin glowing.

Extra virgin olive oil is a must for me, skin and hair.
"Oh Africa! When shall be the term of thy long degradation? Behold here, even now, I pledge thee, O my Mother, that I shall devote my years to thee, shall work for thy redemption, shall love thee and be proud of thee and glory in thy power now lying dormant and shall strive to bring it to the light. Take my youth, my labors, my love, my all and do thou when I shall have died for thee, take me to thy bosom, an untamed, untamable African." -Hubert Harrison
a little olive and shea oil for my loc's and cocoa and shea for my skin(butter) and sometime the perfumed girly stuff too![]()
For my face...dove original beauty bar, organic facial toner, and vitamin E oil.
For my body....wash with lavender baby bathwash...afterwards...baby oil and hemp lotion..or pure shea butter when I have the dinero.
For my hair....optimum essential oil shampoo, conditioner, and scalp conditioner.
Cheap, but everything works great!

On my skin I use shea butter soap or Carol's daughter perfumed soap. I also use various natural lotions. I use aloe vera gel as a facial moisturizer. Anything else clogs my pores.
I make my own shampoo with Dr. Bronner's organic peppermint castille soap, water and a few drops of essential oils. I moisturize my hair with Carol's daughter's Lisa Hair Elixir Oil and blackseed oil.

Olive oil makes me break out when I use it on my face. I have no luck with it on the rest of my body. But I do love raw shea butter and traditional raw black soap. I also love to mix shea with different things like pep. oil, rosemary, neetle, frank and myrrh, or even coco. I love carols daughter prodcuts as well. On my hair its, raw black soap and shea.
Or if I have time I mix some ingrediants maiking my own stuff. For example lemon juice, rosemary, aloe, and honey for twisting. I like coconut milk and eggs for conditioing. Dry Sasparilla mixed with rosemary tea for washing.
My sis gave me a whole bunch of that pricey B&B works and some Dr. M shampoo. The shampoo burned my scalp. And the B&B....., lets just say i had a very bad rash. Its best we stick to the natural and learn to make our own products.

a sister out of new york makes her own products geared to african complexions and skin.
products are for both male and female, body, skin, hair and fragrances. prompt mail service through ups. support the sister my brothers and sisters.
i have gotten rid of all other commercial products. works best if you use all products as they are all natural and are not tested on animals.

Right now, I'm using Sulfur 8 for cleaning my hair, and I'm using African Royale's Hot Six Oil for my hair, skin, and nails. The oil feels a LOT better than lotion, and moisturizes better, too.
When I get some more funds, I'm gonna buy some shea butter from Afrikan Republic (which they get straight from Afrika).
Good thread.
