| Sistahs do you wrap carry your young ones?
I have heard that their are benefits to wrap carrying but I am not quite certain what they are or which ways are better then others and for what ages. I personally have never had an accident with it but I still don't know if im doing it right and I was always interested in what techniques other sisters use. Bellow is a pick of how I tie my nephew when i was just sitting around on the computer or in any sitting position. He is just an infant in it. At that time I tied him to my front because I was not comfortable with him in back of me. If I was sitting down I kept him low ,face front, feet in. If he was irritated, Id tie him closer to my shoulders or in a cradle position. If I was standing or walking around Id bring him closer to my chest and shoulders with his feet n legs out. I always try and keep his back and neck supported. I've seen some sisters make pillows in their wraps. Also, I've found that it is not easy to get them to break from it when they get older. Like my soon to be four year old niece will find a fabric and bring it to me so I can wrap her and as you can imagine she has been walking for some time now. ![]() Now that my youngest nephew is 16 months I feel more comfortable with him on my back. I do it using a 36 inch long non stretch fabric. He seems to enjoy and it and of course I can run my errands, cook, and do house chores without worrying about what he is getting himself into (yea, he tears things up). If any of you sisters out there back wrap or tie your babies please share. Also, do you use a fabric that stretches? I rarely do. Do you keep arms in or out for infants ? I usually keep em out but I've seen sisters keep them in for small infants. I would love to hear yall opinions. |

Yes, I wrapped my youngest two. I was quite young when I mothered my oldest daughter so, I was not aware of all of the benefits. As far as having an accident, I don't see how it's possible because you are so in-tuned with your child needs and wants. That's something I could not imagine. By the time, the wrap began to slightly unravel, I am sure you would have things under control again. This is a mothers/woman/aunt/ grand mothers/ intuition. I wouldn't worry so much about that. As far as how, I wrapped my children in the front when they were younger as, they got older I kept them on my back. I went between the two also. Some days my children preferred looking in my face and, others they enjoyed the bumps of my back. From reading your post, I'd consider you an expert.

All the time, up util my son was a little over 2 and 1/2. I only used the stroller when at street festivals for long periods and wanted to let him lay back and sleep. http://www.afrikanparenting.com/babywearing.html , how to insructions are in the book.
