      Not exercise in th regular sense...

      I walk everywhere I go but I have slacked off big time on weight lifting, situps and the rest.

      But I'm on the road to getting back on it.

      (This was a great reminder...starting pushups now)

      About a month ago, I was diagnosed as diabetic. I'm overweight, both my mother and father are, everyone on my father's side is...go figure.

      My mother has a handle on hers, but my father (one of 11 children, all who have diabetes...his momma does too) has lost a leg, all of his sisters died before the age of 55 due to diabetic complications, and he has a brother who is legally blind due to diabetes.

      I refuse to get like him or my paternal aunts and uncles.

      Before this, I would go to the gym in my building once or twice a month. Since the diagnosis, I make sure I am in the gym at least 5 times a week, 30-45 min. at a time. I would do more, but it is difficult given my schedule. I've been travelling a lot over the past few months, and I get excited about gyms in hotels. I do lots of walking in the airports, pulling a wheeled carry-on and my laptop backpack.

      I usually do the 30-45 minutes on the treadmill (increasing the incline every 5 minutes or so) or the elliptical trainer. I hate, HATE back and ab work, but I have a weak core that desperately needs to be strengthened.
      If I don't feel like looking at a machine, I pull out Tae Bo tapes or I force myself to trek across town to this African Dance Aerobics class which lasts an hour. Watching the elders (in their 60's and early 70's) in there get their dance/workout on is inspiration enough!

      Sounds like you are trying to get yourself on the right track. If you continue your routine and manage your diet, Im sure that you will have a handle on your as well. Good luck to you!

      I workout 3 to 4 times a week for an hour to and hour and a half.
      One day is consisted of arms doing lats and biceps 3 different exercises 3 sets of 10-12 reps.
      Second day is usually chest and back the same 3 different exercise and reps. Rerely bench press so I sub that with dumbell presses and stick to more dumbells and cables
      On the third day which is usually at the end of the week its Legs and shoulders. Same type of reps and sets. Shoulders are my favorite part to work out so I tend to sometimes do more: Shoulder shrugs and shoulder presses with the dumbells are some of my favorites. I also incorporate ab workouts and cardio for 20-30 mins at the end or sometimes in the beginning of the weight training. If i do mor days then its back to a previous body part I did earlier usually try and flip so I wont get to tired of the same things.

      Yes this is true, sweating is very important. I forgot to add.....you should always break a sweat and this is easier for some then for others.

      Good post, I think its very important that these days, we do some type of physical excercise. I walk every where, since Im on the bus, I walk about 2 miles daily, just going to work and sometimes going to both jobs in the same day. Ive also started back roller skating, a few weeks ago..(talk about cardio..my legs still aching from the first week, lol)

      I have a "3 mile radius" rule in my household.

      If it is within a 3 mile radius (barring a very heavy or bulky load or severe weather) then we are walking.... even in the winter months.

      I don't own a car so it's not that hard to follow.

      During the warmer months (as if there is such a thing up here LMAO)
      I do the following (with some help);

      Tilling
      Tree trimming
      Construction like roofing, flooring, tearing out walls...
      Knowing others is wisdom;
      Knowing the self is enlightenment.
      Mastering others requires force;
      Mastering the self needs strength.

      He who knows he has enough is rich.
      Perseverance is a sign of will power.
      He who stays where he is endures.
      To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.

      I was about to also say the same thing as well as monitor how much salt intake you have in your diet as well. Or you could be having what's known as soft work-outs meaning you're not pushing heart rate and muscle tension beyond what it's used to...stale routines will do this also for lean muscled bodies that don't have a high body fat count you may not be providing yourself with enough resistance.

      I will most definitely continue to exercise the same way after I lose the additional thirty. I do not want to make the same mistake I made many moons ago when I lost 75 pounds in less than a year.

      my workout consists of bodyweight exercises only

      i usually do first 3 sets of push ups, hands as wide as shoulders

      than i do crunches also 3 sets

      than i do pull ups also 3 sets with a wide grip, wider than the shoulders, and when i pull myself up i put my head behind the bar, this is an back exercise

      than i do push ups again also 3 sets but this time my hands form an triangel or diamond hence the name "diamond push up" this exercise is good for triceps

      than i do sit ups 3 sets and make the left ellbow touch the right knee e vice versa

      finally i do pull ups but with a close grip

      this is my upper body workout and i try to do this without more than 2 days of rest

      most exercises can by adjustet to personal training level to make push ups easier put ur hands up on a elevated position like desk or chair
      to make it more difficult put ur feet up

      pull ups can be made easier by supporting with the legs on a chair eg
