I voted ... "I keep up w/ news in Afrika. I know current leaders, political parties, challenges, etc." BUT...I also want to point out that I try to stay up on what's going on in the African diaspora as well (i.e. Haiti and the Caribbean, Brazil and the so-called Latin Americas, and etc.).

Needless to say, it's something of importance. We need to stay on top of what is going on wherever our people may be! Perhaps those of us who are on top of what's going on can be an aid to those of us who feel overwhelmed. E se for your post, MS

For me personally its really hard to take anyone serious who talks about African Liberation but yet doesn't know whats presently going on in the continent. Liberation must be centered around today and not so much yesterday, yesterday is the root of today. Being caught up on African news in the diaspora as well as the motherland is a must. |

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can use the forums to address the issue of people feeling overwhelmed by the information presented in Afrikan World News?

I would encourage anybody who has any questions about a specific situation in any Afrikan country to come forward and ask the questions. There is no shame in seeking knowledge! There is only shame in preventing yourself from acquiring knowledge. We can then address the questions and try to put the answers in the simplest form possible. I also encourage anybody who has a tough time keeping up on news to focus on one situation/country at a time and once you understand that one, move on to the next. This will prevent mixing up names, leaders, statistics, or whatever else your are presented with. |

A good way to start becoming knowledgable about Afrika is to start right here in the forums. Go to search and type in a country and read the threads that are associated with that country. As you read acquaint yourself with the policies, leaders, etc that are affecting that area. You will be amazed what you can learn if you focus on a country a day/week! This is just one suggestion! Uhuru!

I also use to be concerned of the waves and structure of news when it comes to Afrika, but existing forums like these gives me a sigh of hope. More than anything is the pride and realization of Afrikans all over the universe, That we the are "GODS OF OUR TIME"

I personally follow the material presented here or at the university. To be honest, I am consumed with freeing the Afrikans in this country. It is trying at times, but I stay current. Issues arise on a daily basis, i find it easier to deal with those that are in front of me, Like improving the conditions that lead to social cannibalism, homelessness, and education. However, I am open to any info...keep posting and I'll keep reading

Greetings Tumi and manifestdestiny Welcome to this discussion! Afrikan news is so very vital for us on the continent and throughout the diaspora to be knowledgeable about. It is very true that here at the forums, a wider and more Afrikan-ized perspective is provided, allowing us to put all of what we hear and read about our people in better perspective. I am glad to know that warriors like yourselves are keeping abreast of what's going on with our people all over the planet, and that you all are wise in seeing the importance of us being able to give voice and collective thought on the issues and events affecting our people! It's important that we realize how the problems that are right in front of us are connected to the problems that our sisters and brothers face abroad. I look forward to reading and continuing to see your posts on the various issues posted here in the Afrikan World News forums! Uhuru!

(Bapedi Proverb) GOYA MORAGO GASE GO TSHABA FELA GOYO TSEA MATLA A MASWA, this means that to make backward steps does not mean that we are running away but only to go fuel our strength and power. It says to me that even as division took place against our will and blood was spilled in the course of enculturastion, we are, in the existence of such forums gaining more power, more strength, more spiritual awarenes, more knowledge, more strategy and ultimately with the interconnectedness of our world and the the world of the ancestors, the universe of fake and falsehood will stare with glaring eye, watching the children whom devinely belong in the heavens and the earth, reclaim their devine space. |
