Tripoli, Libya, 12/20 - Libyan leader Colonel Moammar Kadhafi on Monday held phone conversations with Nigerian President and AU chair Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as Presidents Yoweri Museveni and Abdoulaye Wade of respectively Uganda and Senegal over the ongoing preparations of the sixth AU ordinary summit planned in Khartoum, Sudan, next January.
The Libyan leader and President Obasanjo examined the AU Commission`s working plan related to the preparations for the summit to which the presidential commission set up at the 5th AU ordinary summit held in Sirte (central Libya) will present the final measures relating to the implementation of the Libyan proposals adopted at Nigeria-held 4th AU ordinary summit.
Those proposals concern the creation of AU Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Foreign Trade and Communications and the removal of tariff barriers between African countries, as well as the unification of land, maritime and air telecommunications and communication and the launching of a continental satellite.
With President Museveni, the Libyan leader discussed the coordination of efforts made by their two countries for the achievement of the United States of Africa and several regional and international issues of common interest.
