| Should South Africa nationalise its gold supply?
Many nations around the world are beginning to realize these may be the last days of the hegemony of the U.S. dollar. Venezuela has already passed a law requiring 70% of gold produced in Venezuela be sold domestically and 60% must first be offered to the Central Bank of Venezuela: VHeadline.com - Venezuela has the cajones to do first what many other nations will soon be doing Should South Africa and other African gold producing countries do the same? It looks like a very good idea to me. |

Yes, all African nations should nationalize their goods. Of course only when a decent administration is in place.

| WTF? Nationalize South African mines? HELL NO, YOU DON'T KNO? Azanians need to COLLECTIVIZE the mines, keep the corrupt government out of the people's business. Operate the gold, diamond and platinum mines on a communal basis. Miners work in a cooperative run by a union. The government has a half stake, but not complete national control over the mines, and no private interests. Municipalities and townships in the region have stakes as well with limits on salaries and wages. THAT is what should be done. I don't trust the ANC government.

As that GREAT son of Africa (Ahmed Seku Ture) cautioned us, "the problem in Africa is economic, but the solution to the problem is political." If you don't understand what I'm saying, I'm saying that nationalizing the gold in Azania/South Africa is putting the cart in front of the horse.

| No doubt seizing the mines off of the bloodsucking white nationalists is a step in the right direction and, as Nkrumah stated as well, "Seek ye first the political kingdom."

| Could ANC youth leader Julius Malema become South Africa's "Hugo Chavez"?
In renewing the call for South Africa's long-delayed nationalization of S.A.'s mining industry, Julias Malema of the ANC Youth League, along with Castro Ngobese of the Young Communists could be the two brightest hopes for South Africa to finally free itself from the yoke of western capitalist neo-colonialism and South Africa's white elite economic apartheid: Will South Africa reclaim its mines? - Mail & Guardian Online: The smart news source (following the article, scroll down to the comment by Thembo Ndou which sums it up very nicely) |
