South Africa to Strengthen its Political and Economic Relationship with Vanuatu

South Africa’s first Ambassador to Vanuatu, Anthony Le Clerk Kgwadu Mongalo has said that his country is keen to strengthen its political and economic relationship with Vanuatu.
He has stressed this in a speech to the President of Vanuatu His Excellency Kalkot Mataskelekele when he presented his official letter of credential to his Excellency the Head of State.
He said that, “Our countries share mutual goals of peace and prosperity as we collectively strive to achieve sustainable socio-economic development, aligned to the 2015 UN Millennium Goal objectives.”
The South Africa envoy stressed that the goal of having a better and more humane world will be realized through the collective and sustained efforts of countries like South Africa and Vanuatu by displaying a role-player example in their respective regions.
With this remarks he said that, “Our efforts are part of a larger global initiative aimed at pushing back the frontiers of poverty and underdevelopment, as well as expanding the visas and untapped potential for human advancement and freedom.”
In this regard, South Africa is keen to establish a strong collaborative partnership with the Republic of Vanuatu within the broader framework of UN institutional and financial reform towards placing the UN Development Agenda at the forefront of global dialogue.
“The presentation of my credentials marks an historic moment and a unique opportunity to establish a strategic partnership between our two countries.” He said.
In his response the President of Vanuatu His Excellency Kalkot Mataskelekele stated that Vanuatu and South Africa as developing countries and members of the UN body have an important role to play in this global effort despite our disparities.
With this he believed that it is not so much their status that determines their effectiveness, but rather it is their firm belief in working for the good of mankind that bring the much needed changes in the world today.
Mr Anthony Le Clerk Kgwadu Mongalo was introduced to the President of the Republic by the Chief Protocol Officer Mr. Japhet Tavoa. He was also accompanied to the ceremony at the state house by his wife and Secretary.
