HABESHA presents its First "Movies in the Garden Series" screening the eye-opening documentary film called "FRESH". FRESH celebrates the farmers, activist, and business people acroos America who are re-inventing our food system. FRESH will be shown on Saturday, October 24 at the HABESHA Gardens, located at 477 Windsor St. Atlanta, GA 30312 (the site of the Organic Fest, in the garden on the side of the Dunbar Neighborhood Center). THIS IS A FREE FAMILY EVENT.
Come enjoy music by DJ Rebellion, all powered by solar energy, and have a drink of the"made on the spot" herbal tea, using herbs harvested from the garden. Additonally, there will also be testimony from the youth of HABESHA who recently returned from a life-changing journey to Ghana, West Africa as a part of the Black To Our Roots Program. Children activities (Ourstory Quiz Bowl/Physical Fitness) will take place from 3-5pm, and an organic gardening demonstration will follow from 5-7pm. After the movie, all roads lead to the Omenala Griot Museum at 337 Dargan Place for the SPIRIT DANCE! SPIRIT DANCE returns to the with a musical tribute to those giants that have kept us rockin and groovin over the hills and valleys of life. The lineup is FRESH as always, Performances by Chocolate Thaii of the group Gritz And Jelly Butter, a wonderful singer who is carving his place in the music biz. Also featured will be child stars Laura Cameron and BORN to SING. Selectors LION OF JUDAH SOUND & D.J REBELLION keep us dancing to the ancestral sounds. Hosted by the Ol Skool party rocker TAWA.
