VACCINES AND THE AUTOIMMUNE RESPONSE

"When prelicensing trials are done on vaccines, researchers typically observe the study participants for hours or several days, and only occasionally for a few weeks or longer, to not any adverse reactions to the product. Such abbreviated methods may be appropriate for determining reactions such as inju=ection site swelling or fever, but autoimmune responses may take months, even years, to emerge. Therefore, because these reactions are rarely seen during testing, the vaccines are 'safe.' This approach brings to mind the words of Walter Spitzer, M.D., professor emeritus of epidemiology* at McGill University, who, when commenting on vaccine safety, said, 'There is no problem if you do not look.'

Looking for Problems

Some experts make it a point to look. Marcel Kinsbourne, M.D., a pediatric neurologist, explained to the Committee on Government Reform on August 3, 1999, on the subject of vaccine safety that virus particles, such as those injected in a measles, mumps, rubella, or chicken pox vaccine, can remain dormant for months or years before they trigger a disease. Even though damage may be occurring to a child's developing nervous system and brain, says Kinsbourne, many of those injuries may not be noticeable until much later, when they manifest as conditions such as developmental language problems, attention disorders, and cerebral palsy.

When a vaccine enters the body, the immune system responds by attacking its various components. Sometimes this reaction includes an attack on a part of the body that chemically resembles a component of the vaccine. The fluid in the joints, for example, may be attacked in individuals who get the rubella vaccine, as this vaccine is known to cause arthritis in some peole. This self- (auto-) attack continues and snowballs into an autoimmune response and, depending on the area of the body under attack, an autoimmune disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, or diabetes.

The damaging effects of vaccines on the immune system can be long lasting. A study in the Journal of Infectious Diseases looked at the long-term effect of the measles vaccine on interferon production. Interferon is a chemical produced by white blood cells that helps make the body resistant to infection. Interferon production is stimulated when the body is invaded by a virus. In the study one-year-old infants given the measles vaccine had a dramatic decline in alpha-interferon production ,which means the immune system was suppressed. This reduction in their immune system's ability to respond optimally to incoming infectious organisms was observed for one year before the study was ended. Some investigators are concerned that long term suppression of the immune system may make it difficult or impossible for the body to respond normally to disease and thus set the stage for self-destruction.

THE HYGIENE HYPOTHESIS

"Its a law of nature: For every action there is a reaction. That principle is behind the argument made by some experts that the response to the decreased number of infectious diseases in childhood, achieved through the sue of mass immunization, has been an increase in chronic autoimmune disorders, such as asthma, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis, especially among children, who are the largest group being vaccinated.

Interfering with Nature

"In 1997 the Economist published an article in which the author-scientists noted that interfering with nature---trying to prevent or treat an infectious disease---can lead to undesirable results. One excellent example is antibiotics, which were developed to destroy disease-causing bacteria. The result is we now have more antibiotic-resistant bacteria than we ever had and diseases are not responding to antibiotic treatment.

The 'hygiene hypothesis' states that being exposed to infectious diseases during childhood provides immunity against those diseases and may prevent chronic problems later in life. The article notes that 'intervening in infections may have undesirable effects on the the hosts---that is, on people---as well as on the pathogens [disease-causing organisms] themselves.' One theory explains that the human immune system has evolved over tens of thousands of years to respond to and be strengthened by invading disease-causing organisms. If that natural tendency to fight these organisms is taken away through the use of vaccinations, the immune system may then attack itself---autoimmune disease.

Some researchers...believe the hygiene hypothesis may explain the relationship between vaccines and the rise in chronic autoimmune disorders. Their studies show evidence that vaccines may be having 'undesirable effects' on both people and the disease-causing organisms.

Disrupting the Immune System

In the November 1997 issue of Science News, Harvard Medical School immunologist Howard L. Weiner said that immunizatio=re]n disrupts the activity of the immune system. 'If a person has a tendency toward a disease at a certain age, a vaccine might....make [him or her] more susceptible later, when other challenges come alon.' An example of this idea is the belief of many experts that giving he varicella (chicken pox) vaccine to children forces the disease to emerge in adolescence or adulthood, when it can cause much more serious complications than it can during childhood.

Do we have proof that vaccines can weaken the immune system? In a study publiched in Clinical Pediatrics, researchers studied the illness patterns of babies before and after vaccination. A total of eighty-two infants were observed for thirty days before vaccination with DTP (dphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, or whooping cough) and thirty days after the shot. (The three days immediately after the vaccination were not included because it is common for children to develop a fever after receiving a vaccine.) Compared with their health before receiving the shot, the babies expierenced a significant increase in diarrhea, fever, and cough during the month after vaccination.

Researchers have alo found that the tetanus vaccine disrupts the immune system in people who have the autoimmune disease HIV by causing a decline in their T cells, a classic sign of immune deficiency. Ten of thirteen patients with HIV who received a tetanus vaccination had a decline in T cells, and the white blood cells in seven of ten HIV-unifected volunteers became more susceptible to HIV infection after tetanus vaccination because of their immune deficiency."

Flu Drug is Killing People


The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating reports that the deaths of 12 Japanese children may be linked to the anti-viral drug Tamiflu. The possibility has caused alarm, since millions of doses of the drug are currently being stockpiled for use in a potential flu pandemic.

Also Linked to Seizures

Tamiflu has also been linked to neuropsychiatric incidents in children, including seizures, loss of consciousness, and delirium.

Jumping Off of Roofs

The reports mention incidents including:

A 14-year-old boy with flu took a dose of Tamiflu and two hours later fell from the ninth floor of his apartment building

Another child, hours after taking a dose, jumped from the second floor of his house into deep snow

Tamiflu Used FAR More Frequently in Japan

However, it is important to realize that the reason Tamiflu side effects may show up earlier in Japan is that Tamiflu is used 12 times more frequently in Japan than in the United States -- 11.6 million prescriptions for children in Japan between 2001 and 2005, compared to about 872,000 during that same period in the United States.

I swear this whole bird flu saga is something straight from some television mini-series or fiction novel. However, as you know, you couldn't make up a story like this tale of greed and political corruption.

Earlier this year the United States placed an order for 20 million doses of this worthless drug at a price of $100 per dose. That comes to a staggering $2 billion. It was abundantly clear that this drug was not going to help anyone with the flu, and now we find out that this drug has a serious potential of killing children that take it.

To add insult to injury, the drug companies have made a sweet arrangement with the U.S. government that they are not liable for any of the side effects from the drugs. President Bush's $7.1-billion pandemic flu plan seeks broad limits on lawsuits against producers of vaccines and antiviral drugs, but is silent on how those injured or killed by adverse reactions might be compensated.

The liability shield is contained in the Pandemic Flu Countermeasure Liability Protection Act of 2005. It would protect producers and distributors of emergency vaccines from injury suits except in cases of "willful misconduct," a term to be defined later by the attorney general and the secretary of Health and Human Services.

So, even if these drugs or vaccines wind up killing innocent children, these companies will not be held liable. But you don't have to worry as on Saturday the FDA aannounced that Tamiflu was safe. Of course, this is the same agency that gave Vioxx its safetly blessing before it killed 55,000 people.

When Tamiflu kills U.S. children, Roche will plead that they had no idea it could do such a thing! They will claim reports such as this one out of Japan were unverified, and that there was no way they could have known it was a problem.

It just doesn't get much worse than that. When will America wake up and say enough is enough?

Baba Ahmed: give thanks for sharing this info. it is especially timely. i hope all parents on the forum are reviewing this material. sadly the U.S. gov't demands all children be vaccinated before being allowed to travel. my sister has been "stuck" in the US unable to travel with her (unvaccinated, healthy, organic) little one, unable to visit her family in Eritrea because of this "law." as of yet, i haven't come to knowledge on any way around this.

Remembering The Middle Passage Throught the Eyes of Our Ancestors he introduces a term gotten from our own AK (Akyeame Kwame) of this site. A permanent substitute for the romantic phrase Middle Passage in the West Afrikan Twi language: Ntoreasee Otuko (pronounced, maybe transliterated imo, n-tor-ah-ee-see oh-too-koh) "to describe this horrific event in ourstory. Literally, Ntoreasee Otuko means a 'genocidal forced eimigration/exile/captivity.' (he says) This fits the depiction we are seeking because it speaks to both intent and process. The way in which we were captured and brought here was against every fiber of our will and fully intended to destroy all psychological and genetic memory of ourselves. It makes no difference whether we use this particular Afrikan term or another. What is important is that we use Afrikan terminology. The term "Middle Passage" is a euphenisim softening the horrendous psychological feeling that part of the Maafa spent on the Kemetic Ocean naturally brings. Baruti further writes "Middle" in no way connotes the horror Afrikans experienced. It is a neutral word indicating nothing more than location (middle - between Afrika and this land), while 'passage' indicates only a place traveled."

Now 'bout vaccinations. Early in our marriage my wife & I vowed many things, 2 of the most vital were: to have our babies born at home and to not allow any vaccinations into their pure systems. So about shots, I did brief study on Federal Laws and 2nd, State Laws. While scanning Feds, I discovered that most shots spouted as being like mandated are suggested. I'll say this and then hit me via email, I'll explain further. On the state level, Georgia, what's told to the public re school registration, etc., the exceptions are never, never mentioned! In newspapers; in radio public announcements, nor via TV. Which are: 1) a M.D.'s written statement due to medical reasons a person can not take the shots; 2) for religious reasons, which is the one I've used for over 20 years. Our youngest daughter recently enrolled at a State U. They threaten'd her with: u must have a shot! Immediately I typed my form of a memo to whoever! signed and had it notarized (looks good and helps someone get back Notary Public fees). I went to school with her. No problema. See I have a "theory" that most public laws, regulations, rules and guidelines are for the masses. Mass behavior tools.

What's your reaction to me telling u that my 12 year old granddaughter and others were scheduled to visit Ethiopia this past Summer, that didn't work out; so they continued on to Ghana! For I think 'bout 2 weeks. One of my daughters, an adult; spent a few weeks in Senegal, earlier last year. No shots. Hit me email. Meanwhile I'll peek to see if Eritrea has a website. BTW how old is your sister's little one?

(As a 5 year old, I was forced to take ONE shot. Now its about 20 before age 5!)

give thanks for the thorough response. these poems you refer to are already written. this one is part of a series of three that i wrote in Eritrea when i visited/lived in Asmara with my sistren in 2000, the very same sis with the un-vaccinated baby in fact. the poems came whole like memories, and since this poem in particular deals with an Ancestor lost or freed to the Atlantic Ocean during the brutal transport of Black bodies, one who never made it to the Americas--middle passage--reflects that liminal, inbetween puragatory type space of anguish (excuse the christian metaphor again language limitations!). the poem expresses this loss from this perspective, and i remain thankful for this voicing as these victims of the slave trade are often overlooked. but yes, i strongly agree that "Middle Passage" does not express our collective agony or yt's barbaric treatment of our Ancestors and our continued struggle. i'm sure you are familiar with the Swahili term 'Maafa' that has been in usage as a replacement for Middle Passage. yet the Twi term you have shared is powerful as well and perhaps more appropriate given it is a West African term. it would serve us well to collect African terms for this great calamity called captivity and enslavement because unsurprisingly english is not doing our African experience linguistic justice.

anyway as answers to your questions: her child is almost 2. i don't know all the details but she did tell me this several months back that she was struggling with these issues and laws regarding vaccinations & travel. i brought it up as it concerns me and my future children and as i expect to return to settle in Afrika, pre or post pregancy, it may be possible that my little returning spirits will travel during their youth to visit family in the Americas and such. given what i know about vaccinations i would not want my children poisoned yet of course i will want them to have the neccessay international mobility when the time comes. i myself have received a shot for yellow fever which is mandated by the West African countries i have visited or at least that is what is told to travelers. i have refused to take malaria pills but i've never considered or was informed about religious belief as means to opt out of these other regulations.

Like the other day there's this grandiose announcement of a vaccine for vaginitis; said to be the safest ever. Sales projected already to be $3 billion. So I don't know which is priority: $$$ or citizenry as guinea pigs.... naw; its both

U hit a nail on the head: read, research & I add to not trust this system's medical "care." If something is researched and found to be useful, then use it. After kik'n it with those who're more up on synthetics and chemistry AND hopefully who're up into traditional methods.

Example the more we re discover breast feeding for babies coupled with avoidance of nasty, filthy posionous vaccines stronger can be our children.
