"The awards that impress him most were the first honorary degree he received from the University of Denver, Doctor of Letters, in 1970, and the two honors bestowed on him in 1988. He was enstolled twice that year. On February 28th he was enstooled as, Nana Akwasi Agyeman.

Akwasi meaning - Born on Sunday. Agyeman meaning - Man who saved his people.

On September 30th, the Ga people in the United States enstooled him as Nii Okai Koi 1st."*

i feel you...my father has this video Night John, a movie about a brother that risks life and limb to teach a young Afrikan girl to read...

...one night after a long day's work he goes out at midnight to start a small garden for himself by the quarters and the other Afrikans ask "you been workin' all day out in the sun, why u up in the middle of the night carryin' on like this...you should be sleep"...

Night John replies..."shoot...i done spent all day workin' for them krakkkaz, i reckon i should spend at least as much time workin for myself!"

everytime u see me on Assata it's part of me stealin' time back from these krakkkaz up here at this plantation...

that's a shame...but it's good she was at least exposed to the language so she knows it exists...inspiration is showing people possibilities as i like to say...

yeah, Baba, you should tell Mama Ann when you get a chance...maybe for the next printing it could be corrected...

Baba Clarke: "You will not understand it, until you deal with some myths that came out of it.

• The myth of discovery

• The myth of a people waiting in darkness for another people to bring the light

• The myth of civilization, which is the biggest lie ever told!

• The myth of a people bringing a new God to a heathen. When people conquer you they declare war on your God and your God concept. They give you a God that looks like them. One of the main reasons you can't fight them, including their cops killing you, is that he is the same color (culture) as the God they gave you.

• When a people worship a God assigned to them by another people, they will never be psychologically free.

• I'm not trying to take away your God, because it wasn't yours in the first place!

NSAA Family: For many, the idea of spiritual warfare is unsettling. We have been carefully taught and socialized to believe that spirituality is only about harmony between the members of the 'human family.' Brutal and subtle education and socialization for servitude guides our seeking the illusion of peace with oppressors. In exchange we give up MAAT (truth, justice, balance, righteourness, etc.). We give up our children, our elders, and especially our ancestors. This servant mentality and European myth of universal morality has diminished our true spiritual power. It is time to define morality based on MAAT and on what is good for Afrikan people. It is time to call upon our Afrikan Ancestors and Afrikan divinity for protection and sustenance. It is time for spiritual warfare!

"Time has passed since Nana John Henrik Clarke left this realm and ascended into pure spirit, joining our ancestors. But we still miss him as if it were only yesterday. For he was a sure, steadfast, incorrupitible voice among us. Unfortunately, too many of us never knew his words, never heard this loving man speak. And, among those of us who did, some have even forgotten to remember his power.
No other ourstorian has been held in as high esteem by Afrikans seeking an Afrikan truth uncontaminated by others' cultural politics as he. This Afrikan warrior schoolar was unafraid of our enemies within and without. He neither honored nor owed them. He did not lie to us. He had no reason to.

His nyansasem (wise words) told our true stories as a people in unremitting rebellion against an assimilated, amalgamated, vanquished subintegration into whiteness. He was/is our baba, educator, warrior, ourstorian, always standing on our first line of intellectual defense. He was a true jegna.
Although only one of many Afrikan warrior scholars to recognize and boldly speak our truth, he brought our thinking into tighter focus. He taught us that Afrika, Alkebu-lan, is our source, our mother, our essence, 'our beating heart.' He consistently looked to where we came from for his lead. He used the ancestors as the rod to gauge our progress, the 'compass' to direct our spiritual, cultural and political footsteps, the 'map' to locate our way.

From his analysis, we know that Afrikans anywhere are Afrikan, no matter their confusion or denial. We understand that family, that nation, while having a specific geographical space is home, has no geographical boundaries. It is wherever its members are.

He taught us that our ancestors were a loving, gentle, civil people who sought to build a world based on Ma'at, a way of being which reflected the universe they studied as their model of existence. Never did we as a people knowingly choose others' ways over our own. In fact, they gave their very lives fighting to keep foreign ways and their carriers out of our space and family. There is no question that the invaders from the north and east brought us nothing that we did not already have better.

He unveiled our enemies before us. Neither Europeans nor Arabs are family. Whether they come with smiles or guns, they are the destroyers of our family. They are alien. They are invaders. We are not them. Therefore, we should always be on guard against aping and internalizing those thoughts and behaviors that are peculiarly theirs but which they and their Afrikan pets attempt to graft onto our traditions."
