The writings of our brilliant and beloved founder, Safiya Bukhari, have been compiled by Laura Whitehorn and Wonda Jones. There will be a series of book parties during the month of February. Please examine and note on your calendar.

Dear friends and comrades, "The War Before," the writings and speeches
of Safiya Bukhari, will be published by the Feminist Press on Feb. 1
2010 (see The War Before | The Feminist Press). Wonda
and I invite you to any and all of the following NYC events (and stay
posted for others -- or set them up and tell us!):

Monday, Feb. 1st, 7 pm - Barnes&Noble Upper West Side (Broadway at 82nd
St.), Manhattan -- "Black Women, Black Freedom with Wonda Jones, Laura
Whitehorn, Jeanne Theoharis and Komozi Woodard" (they are editors of a
new book called "Want to Start a Revolution? Radical Women in the Black
Freedom Struggle") -- this event will likely last only about an hour and
a bit (Black Women, Black Freedom with Laura Whitehorn, Wonda Jones, Jeanne Theoharis and Komozi Woodard at Barnes & Noble - 82nd & Broadway, New York NY).

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 3 - Launch party for "The War Before" and celebration of
Safiya Bukhari -- hosted by Safiya Bandele at Medgar Evers (1650 Bedford
Ave., Brooklyn) -- 6 to 9 pm

Friday, Feb. 5 -- reading and discussion at Bluestockings radical
bookstore, 172 Allen Street between Stanton and Rivington, Manhattan.

SATURDAY, FEB 13th - celebration of Safiya Bukhari and "The War Before"
at the Brecht Forum, 451 West Street (between Bank & Bethune Streets,
Manhattan.
