Remembering Nana Kuntu aka Baba Del Jones

Remembering Nana Kuntu aka Baba Del Jones

This is a continuance of Saturday, Aug 12th Family Chat. Please share your opinions about this topic whether you were present on Saturday or not. Let's build!

Remembering Nana Kuntu aka Baba Del Jones.
During this special family chat session we had the honor of having Sis Azania Speaks discuss her close relationship with Nana Kuntu. She was able to share some of the special experiences that they had, and tell us about his contirbutions to Afrikan Liberation.

1.Who is Nana Kuntu aka Baba Del Jones?

2.What did he do for Afrika people?

3. How can we honor his memory?

Saturday's chat synopsis:
Baba Del Jones was a Revolutionary who, due to illness, transitioned on August 8th, 2006. He spent years working for our people, some of the projects he was involved with included:

Sending supplies to Ghana
Re-creating the Grenada Educational system
Educating our youth in Afrikan intellectual warrior-ship
Lecturing around the US on various issues pertaining to our people

He was uncompromising and unapologetic in his speech, yet he was also a gentle spirit. His life and legacy will never be forgotten.

How Can we continue his legacy? By being uncompromising Afrikans who are willing to fight for our Liberation. By carrying on with some of the projects strated by Baba Del Jones, such as the Ghana project that he was involved with.

Revolution is matter-in-motion, its ancestral energy and a fierce pride possessed by those who know. Every time the enemy think they have bleached our minds by promoting our behinds, cultural cadres will sound the war gong and it is on.

Uhuru!

Greetings! ImHotep!

Asante sana Goddess Warrior Mekeda 7 for the dilligence and honor you portray towards our recently transitioned Nana Kuntu!

For all that truly want to continue the work and legacy of this Magnificent Front Line Warrior:

1. Baba Del ALWAYS wanted the youth, especially, to look beyond the veil of the yt supremacy propoganda and see what was behind their manure-verings!

2. He also made every effort, with disregard to his own physical limitations, to speak to the youth in "their" language AND with utmost respect, encouragement and inspiration!

3. He is EXPECTING all that respect his work and treasure his vision to LEARN from his successes as well as his mistakes -- look long and deep into the materials/lessons that he presented both the obvious and the hidden.

4. He ALWAYS promoted UNITY with the primary responsibility being committed/bonded to an Afuraitkaitnit/Afurakanu mate; raising children [family] and working in the community!

5. Finally, he alluded to the fact, just as did his mentor Baba John Henrik Clarke, that had he known he was going to live as long as he did he would have taken better care of his physical health/balance. At another point and time I will address this more fully; for now let it be sufficient to say that as we review the lives of all our great 19th & 20th 'century' spokespersons, revolutionaries, activists, scholars and teachers we MUST learn from their observations regarding physical health and revolutionary work! Nana Kuntu recognized that during our lifetime the life expectancy for our people is almost half of what it was when we [he and I] were children -- most of that is due to our being moved off/from the land and having responsibility for feeding ourselves and the rest is due to our fatalistic dependence upon our destroyers for food, shelter and clothing!

Those of us that love him will take his entire life into consideration and correct our errors where we stand, moving forward into the future empowered, enlightened and balanced. The only thing that any of us can give to each other is ourselves, let's us be at our best for we definitely have the ability to do so!

Power & Protection Is Within You. . .. along with my Love!

PS: His work continues! Please patronize his website, form study groups and advance the knowledge to the community! Asante sana! http://www.whattheproblemis.com

Nana Kuntu would be comparable to the night watchman. Someone has to guard the community and keep the high watch. Nana Kuntu fought for our culture to make sure it was preserved. He ensured thieves (what our nana called culture bandits) don’t steal what rightfully belongs to Afrikans. He has to kept OUR information readily available for everyone that seeks the truth. His spirit was willing to organize and teach us wherever we were in terms of our Pan-Afrikan identity. One thing I can really appreciate is that he was not so into titles and accolades from people that he couldn’t speak the future of Afrika, OUR children. Any man that is willing to step up and carry the message to Our children deserves all the respect in the world. If we aren’t fighting for them then we don’t deserve to be called Pan-Afrikanist.

Nana Kuntu has done so much for our people but I want to speak to how is life effected me. Our elder is a sociologist in everyway. That speaks volumes to me because that is what I’m trying to do also. Our elder that has stayed true to Pan-Afrikan ideas in the midst of the confusion and really stayed the course with us that such an inspiration and motivating force.

In his memory we have to carry on with the work. Every Afrikan school, day care, food program, prisoner support letter, every time you dedicate yourself to getting down on the frontlines you are a testimony to what are elder spoke of. It is up to us to move forward in the projects our elder began. Our elder knew you are able to accomplish through self-reliance. He was able to publish numerous writing and other media tools which we should be reading and sharing with others in our community because knowledge and reality are some very powerful forces.
