    1. Reaction-ism & Laziness

      by , 01-20-2010 at 10:30 AM
I was having a conversation with my friend last night and he was telling me about how many of the people he knew feel like it was simply ok to just give monies to a cause and feel good about that alone. He mentioned what ever happen to rolling your sleeves up and getting dirty. I agree with that statement, what ever happen to rolling your sleeves up and getting dirty? We may (or may not) send monies to Haiti but we won't put the effort into going to the store and getting supplies then going to the post office and sending supplies nor will we put the efforts into collecting supplies. We don't want to do the physical work required. Some of us won't lift a finger to do anything but have no problem pointing the finger and lifting a finger to type ...

    2. I Love My Root Doctor part 1 of 4

      by , 09-17-2009 at 06:52 PM
It's been a while send I wrote in this blog but after looking there the post of herbs I decided to add my 2 cents about what I know and how herbs have affected me. Over time I have use attempted to use some different herbs to heal myself so I'm going to share some of my findings with everyone else. The herbs and natural medicines I have used include lemon, ginger, mullein, eucalyptus, frankincense, garlic, peppers, slippery elm, cumin, water, honey. There is a probably more but I can't think of it now. Those herbs and natural substances are the ones I'll talk about of thing 4 part series. I try to learn the old way of doing certain things because the old way may be more effective and efficient. I'm not the kind of person who wants to do things ...

    3. Professor Booker T. Washington

      by , 03-23-2009 at 10:07 PM
It is a commonly held belief that Booker T. Washington was sold out. It's funny that's the commonly had view of too many of our leaders. Too many of the REAL sell outs are paraded as celebrities, but I will not name names. Please don't ask me too either but if you are really interested in who's a "sell out" and etc check out the thread SHUT UP! in the Contest Zone you may find what you are looking or this one called drop squad. Anyways back to the topic at hand, Prof. Washington.

I too once believe Prof. Washington was a sell out because I was ignorant and foolish enough to listen to others without doing research on a matter. Then I heard a lecture by the Master Teacher Dr. John H. Clarke. In this lecture he talked ...

AIG: Leopards Don't Change Their Spots!

Bailed out insurance company AIG ask employees to voluntarily return their 165 million dollar "retention bonuses". In a funny conversation with an associate about the bailout of AIG and their "retention bonuses" he asked, "aren't bonuses supposed to be performance based? If they are a failing company, their performance must have been bad." I replied, "they performed pretty good to convince the Obama administration they needed to be bailed out." Though we both laughed this is a serious matter. What is serious is not the bonuses but the hypocrisy being shown by the Obama administration. It was stated plenty of times that the economic downturn was caused ...

    5. Obama to King: What an Insult!

      by , 11-19-2008 at 02:20 PM
I just saw another t-shirt, poster, and calender with Obama and King on it... ARRHHH! Stop comparing Barack Obama to Martin L. King. They are not remotely the same and political they are opposites. They do share one thing though they both are Black. Ok, they share two things, they both have Black wives but that is where the bus stops. Now passengers please watch your step as you exit. Simply put, King was a revolutionary, Obama is a politician. King forced political change in America, Obama hopes for change in America - a change in skin color but not policies. Before he was killed King’s last hope was the end of capitalism. How many racists think this automatically made him a communist but this was not the case he was against that too. He recognized ...

Eyes Of The Rainbow Deals With The Life Of Mama Assata Shakur

"Like most poor people in the United States, I have no voice. The Black press and the progressive media, as well as Black civil rights organizations, have historically played an essential role in the struggle for social justice. We should continue and expand that tradition. We should create media outlets that help to educate our people and our children, and not annihilate their minds. I am only one woman. I own no TV stations or radio stations or newspapers. But I believe that people need to be educated as to what is going on and to understand the connection between the news media and the instruments of repression in America. All I have are my voice, my spirit and the will to tell the truth. But I sincerely ask those of you in the Black media, those of you in the progressive media and those of you who believe in truth and freedom to publish my story." -Assata Shakur

Gloria Rolando on "Eyes of the Rainbow":
