I have been really, really busy thus unable to utilize this outstanding blog system we have here, now that I got a few minutes I want to share some of the struggle we have been going through in the course of the last year or so, where do I begin? hmmm we received a phone call from a Brother, Lumumba Bandele in which he stated "ya'll must remove the video www.eyesoftherainbow.com we shared with him that we were only offering it to the membership here at Assata Shakur Speaks and that removing it at that time from our site was not on the table, we went on to state since they were selling it, we were more than willing to provide a link to the site selling it www.happybirthdayassata.org and would even promote it in an effort to boost their sales, after a little back and forth Brother Lumumba Bandele hung up in the middle of the discussion.

Enter Afrocubaweb.com www.afrocubaweb.com some mystery writer "Andy Petit" hey isn't that a baseball player? wrote the following:

"Jacuma Kambui is head of the Talking Drum Collective and the owner of AssataShakur.org, which purports to support Assata in her struggles. He has left a dubious trail on one of Davey D's forums which starts with an interview of Willie “Mukasa” Ricks, a legendary veteran of the US civil rights struggles who originated the use of "Black Power". Kambui then kicks in with an attack on the interviewer, Kalonji Jama Changa, who responds by accusing Kambui of being a manipulator and thief. Two of Kambui's associates join him in this sad trail, Darnell Crawford and Alexis Lucas - they apparently developed a web site for the Prisoners of Conscience Committee (POCC), took in orders, never fulfilled them, and kept the money.
Changa further specifies that Crawford was an information specialist at the US Army's Tank and Armament Command in Warren, MI, something he did his best to hide from others as he pontificated on Army surveillance of militants.
Kambui's response to the many accusations is to summon two lists of activists who are supposed to support him. Someone checked out 5 persons on the second one at the bottom of the forum and they had not agreed to the posted statement.
Kambui maintains a profile on RBG Worldwide 1 Nation with an odd picture of the webmeister peering out of a blinded window, an automatic weapon in hand.
His work on www.assatashakur.org is increasingly being called into question as he has posted copyrighted materials without permission and despite repeated calls to remove them. The sly old dog thinks his slick net moves are actually beyond elementary forensics."
an outstanding Warrior on behalf of our People and our POWs behind enemy lines, I received a call from Sister Elijah in regards to the movie Eyes Of The Rainbow www.eyesoftherainbow.com Sister Elijah stated that we were in violation of the copyright laws and that we must remove the film immediately, I shared with Sister Elijah, that unless Mama Evelyn (Assata's Attorney and Auntie) co-signed her requests, removing the movie wasn't a possibility at that time, I also asked her since she had stated "Mama Evelyn is in contact with her" I assumed that Sister Jill asking Mama Evelyn to co-sign her request wouldn't be a problem, apparently it was.
#1) We have removed this content off of AssataShakur.Org so please restore our account ASAP. The only reason this content has been removed is so our users will not suffer through what we believe is a hacking attempt which you have helped through your inappropriate actions. These inappropriate actions include failure to notify us on the May 1, 2008 of this claim and failure to validate this claim before suspending our accounts for AssataShakur.org and PanAfrican.TV. We can not remove the content off of PanAfrican.TV without having full web access to the site since all content is added and deleted through its web administration control panel.

#2) We believe this is a successful hacking effort. there are a couple things very suspicious about this letter.

a. There is no proof Gloria Rolando or Assata Shakur are the copyright owners of the content.
b. There is no proof a copyright exist.
c. There is no proof Jill Soffiyah Elijah is a lawyer.
d. There is no proof Jill Soffiyah Elijah is the lawyer for Gloria Rolando or Assata Shakur.
e. There is no proof the claims by Jill Soffiyah Elijah are the wishes of Gloria Rolando or Assata Shakur.
f. There is no proof Gloria Rolando or Assata Shakur are real persons.

With all of these unverified variables we find it extremely disappointing that HostGator.com, LLC has taken inappropriate actions towards a paying customer. We'd like to counter-claim that if within one week - seven (7) days - from today May 9, 2008

1.) a copyright document from the U.S. Copyright Office is produced with the copyright owners listed as Gloria Rolando and Assata Shakur.

2.) a letter signed by Gloria Rolando and Assata Shakur is produced expressing they would like the content off of our sites, AssataShakur.Org or PanAfrican.TV we will happily remove the content permanently. But if these items can not be produced we will be forced to believe Jill Soffiyah Elijah's claims to be fictitious and thus a successful hacking effort. Furthermore, if this claim is found to be fictitious legal action against HostGator.com, LLC and Jill Soffiyah Elijah should be anticipated. We expect to see verifiable documentation by May 16, 2008 10:30am EST.

Thanks,

Uhuru, I want to thank the many of you who took the time to support Baba Mukasa Dada during his recent bout with cancer, I'm happy to share its been in remission for a while mow and he is in the best of spirits due in part to YOUR SUPPORT.

My little history with Baba Mukasa, I first met Mukasa in NJ around 1980 when he and Kwame Ture came to NJ on a speaking tour that we who were in work study (AAPRP) organized, this covered three cities in NJ Trenton, New Brunswick and Newark, these 2 organizers fired up the students and community so much, that we were able to create work study in two additional locations New Brunswick and Trenton for at the time the only work study that existed in NJ was Newark.

I lost contact with many of my Party Comrades over the years, when I relocated to Atlanta in the early 90s. During this period I created http://www.thetalkingdrum.com in an attempt to continue organizing.

I ran into Mukasa and met Im The Truth and Sister Chaos at Afrikan Liberation Day in Atlanta, Mukasa and I re-acquainted ourselves with each other, Truth and Chaos I had met for the very first time, as some of you know to Mukasa everyone is Brother Afrika or Sister Afrika, his son is known throughout the community as lil Afrika, anyway I was shocked when he shared where he lived, for I lived about 2 miles from him, so we were able to solidify our relationship.

Unknown to either one of us, our Children had been interacting with each other via school and parties.long before I re-connected with Mukasa.

Mukasa In Hospital
When I got the news of him suffering from cancer I was devastated and we C.H.A.D., Truth and myself immediately rushed to see him. on 12/25/07 RebelAfrika, Mamazen and MsLioness spoke with him on the phone, while he was in the hospital.

Ms.Lioness, Mamazen, RebelAfrika, Ak, Im The Truth, Fenix ,R. Walker, C.H.A.D. and the many others who supported him during this time of need was simply awesome.

Mamazen's Wonderful Blanket and the money AK sent
It really did make a difference. for that I want to say Asante Sana to each and everyone of you.

A Conversation with Mukasa Dada
January 31, 2008
By: Fenix

It was during a Stokely Carmichael speech at a rally in 1966 when Willie Ricks hopped on stage and called to the crowd: “What do you want?!” to which the crowd responded: “BLACK POWER!” Formerly known as Willie Ricks, Mukasa Dada has served the cause of Black people for decades. Referred to as “the fiery orator of the SNCC” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mukasa has traveled the country and the globe, dedicating himself to equality, freedom and dignity for all Africans of the Diaspora.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk to one of the unsung heroes of our history.

When did you decide to dedicate your life to the cause?

There was no specific moment. I guess I really got started when I was about 17 years old, in high school, when the sit-in movement started about 1960. I was involved from the first day it started. We started with about fifty people it grew to about three or four hundred people and then it went to nine or ten people and then just to four or five who were really dedicated and there every day. I was one of those four or five. Then we organized SNCC (the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee). I went to more demonstrations, was jailed, beat and everything. My 65th birthday is on February 18th and I’ve been in the movement since I was 17.

You mentioned the sit-in movement. Could you describe what was going through your head during the Chattanooga sit-in when you were 17? Did you know what you were getting yourself into?

There were segregations, lynchings and beatings going on. People were being terrorized; they were terrorizing us just to keep Blacks in their place. We just wanted to break this terrorism, to stop them from terrorizing us; we didn’t care about the consequences. Once I got involved, they started going after my family, my family was getting attacked. The more terrorism they used, the more committed I became. Some of my friends, like Dr. King and Medgar Evers, died on the front lines. There were times when I thought I’d die in the movement but it didn’t matter because I was fighting to make the world a better place.

What would you say are the keys to organizing people? How can we get people moved the way they were in the 60s and 70s?

People mobilized then after what happened at A&T (Greensboro sit-ins). That’s what started the student movement. A woman by the name of Ella Baker and Dr. King called the youth together. That led to the formation of the SNCC. Easter Sunday morning on the campus of Shaw University in 1960 SNCC was formed; it was 99% college students, a few high school students, but mostly college kids. SNCC was declared not just a mobilizing organization like the SCLC, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Dr. King and his group of ministers; but SNCC was an organizing organization. Wherever SNCC traveled, we formed organizations in the community whether it was Selma, Montgomery or Lowdes County where we formed the Black Panther Party. SNCC brought together people, created local leadership, and in that way, we were technical advisors. We also formed freedom schools which were just free conversations where we got together and had free discussions about oppression and how to fight the oppression we were facing and how to change the oppression.

What we need to day is an organization like SNCC that is built around the youth; and that can scatter members to form more organizations and coordinate and try to understand what happened to us. And these organizations need educational components to teach us about ourselves. Like rap today, it’s just kids crying out as slaves because that’s what they’ve been taught as, slaves. But if you educate the youth, they will rap and dance to a new tune.

I looked up a definition of “Black Power” and I want to read it to you and I want you to tell me what you think of this definition. “Black Power encompasses a political belief in self-determination, anti-racism, and racial consciousness among African-Americans”. Is this the conception of Black Power that you and Brother Kwame Ture envisioned for this slogan in 1966? What do you think of this definition?

It’s narrow. When we first talked about Black Power, we were talking about the power to feed ourselves, the power to clothe ourselves, the power to stop the terrorism in our communities; we were talking about a better life as a whole. After we put Black Power out there, there were mass rebellions all across the country; people were calling for Black Power. And then it stretched to Africa and started pointing towards our history, to Malcolm X. Even though he died in 1965, Malcolm X became the educator for the Black Power movement. We read him and he told us that we are Africans, and that to understand our history, we had to understand Africa. That’s when we linked to the movements in South Africa and Mozambique. We began to realize the oneness of Blacks all around the globe when we looked at Marcus Garvey, and DuBois, and Kwame Nkrumah. Black Power became Pan-Africanism which is the idea that all Blacks must unite around Africa. We began to look at the greatness of Africa and began to ask who is exploiting Africa? We began to look at the oppressors who came to Africa, the European invaders who were now living in the richest parts of Africa, for the diamonds, the gold and the silver. We began to look at the slave trade and how they gave us their culture, not just in America but everywhere in the world, we began to look at the names and everything else that they’d taken from us. Black power began to grow into Pan-Africanism. We realized that until Africa is free, no Blacks in the world are free. We realized that the resources of Africa should be used to take care of Africans, to solve the problems of Blacks all over. The same way Europeans use Europe to take care of themselves, and the Chinese use the resources of China, Africans need the resources of Africa. Black Power united with African liberation movements, we began to identify with Africa, not the US. And we started demonstrating at white schools like Duke, Harvard, Yale, wherever there were Black students, we began to organize them to demand Black Studies departments and Black Student Unions, we began to demand to be taught about ourselves.

What advice do you have for those of us who aspire to follow the path you and other organizers and activists have laid out?

Love your people more than you love yourselves. Make whatever sacrifices are necessary for your people. Get organized, every individual should belong to an organization, and within those organizations, get educated. Study liberation movements, not just African liberation movements but study movements in China, Guinea, Cuba. Study these movements to see that all liberation movements have one common enemy: imperialism. And that there is one solution: poor people all over must unite to whoop imperialism; we have to take their resources and use them to uplift people all over. Students have to serve working class people. Not just study history, but get out there and make history to make a strong contribution towards our liberation.

****************
The love and support that was given to Baba Mukasa Dada contributed to his full recovery, this is living proof that support really makes a difference.

Here are a few facts in understanding the nature of bullet wounds. With this knowledge and further research you may be able to save a life “perhaps your own” in absence of a doctor or medical attention.

Bullets from small caliber weapons pass through the tissue causing little harm, and leave what is called a ice wound. Ice wounds are usually clean unless the bullet hits a bone, vessel or nerve, often little treatment is necessary and recovery is rapid.

Rifle bullets of large calibers cause wounds of various types. The exit wound is often larger than the wound of entrance, leaving lacerations of the skin. Muscle tissue is usually greatly damaged. Nerve tissue and blood vessels are tough and elastic and will usually hold together. The bone is tough but brittle and so it frequently cracks due to impact.

Damage to the abdomen varies with the type of organ hit. If the bullet passes through a solid organ such as the liver, spleen or stomach full of food it has an explosive effect and tears large amounts of tissue. If the bullet perforates an empty stomach, often it will make the same type of small holes in the organs as it makes in the wound of entrance in the skin.

Shell or bomb fragment wounds are caused by sharp jiggered pieces of steel of almost any size. They are generally large, irregular lacerated wounds. They often have no wound of exit. A wound can have 4 effects which threaten life.

A)	Hemorrhage – Sudden loss of large amounts of blood can produce shock severe enough to require immediate treatment to save the life. Loss of one half the body’s blood volume is usually fatal.
B)	Mechanical Defects – Such as a chest wound or an obstruction of the airway, which causes death unless corrected quickly.
C)	Infection – Open wounds are contaminated by bacteria. The wounds may contain tetanus or other organisms which produce infections. Bacteria multiply within four to six hours. This is the best time for treatment to prevent infection.
D)	Tissue Destruction may cause death by
1. Injury to organs or systems.
2. Poisons released from dead tissue.

Inflammation is the local reaction of the body to irritation or injury.

Causes of inflammation
1.	Traumatic – such as blows and mechanical irritation
2.	Chemical – Such as venom of snakes, acid, poison ivy, insect stings.
3.	Heat or cold.
4.	Pathogenic disease causing bacteria, such as staphylococcus.
5.	X-rays and sun rays.

Types of Hemorrhage

1)	Arterial - blood is bright red, escapes in spurts, escapes in spurts with each heart beat. This is the most dangerous type of bleeding. (blood is from the artery) Control of arterial bleeding elevate wound, apply direct pressure to stop bleeding. If bleeding continues apply tourniquet.
2)	Venous _ Blood is from vein. There is a rapid flow. Blood is dark red and wells up into the wound steadily without spurting. Control of Venous Bleeding elevate the wound and apply direct pressure with a sterile dressing. Seldom needs a tourniquet.
3)	Capillary _ This is a steady oozing of blood from the wound. It is dark red in color. Control of capillary bleeding, elevate the wound and apply direct pressure with a sterile dressing.

Symptoms of Hemorrhage
1)	Skin is pale, cold and moist
2)	Breathing is rapid, irregular and shallow
3)	Pulse rate is rapid, feeble and irregular
4)	Blood pressure is lowered.

Shock – Shock is a condition in which there is not enough blood to fill the vascular system. As a result tissues do not get enough oxygen. There is extreme body weakness. Reduction of blood volume can result from:
1)	Hemorrhage
2)	Leaking capillaries causing loss of blood plasma.
3)	Abnormal increase in the capacity of the vascular system.

Injury Is The Major Cause Of Shock
Types Of Shock

A)	Psychogenic Shock – results from sudden emotion. It may cause fainting in a depressed temporary state. Recovery is usually prompt.
B)	Vasogenic Shock – May be produced by the effects of such drugs as nitrates, and histamine. The capacity of vascular system enlarges.
C)	Cardiogenic Shock – Occurs when the heart, because of damage by injury or disease, is unable to pump adequate amounts of blood to all parts of the body.
D)	Neurogenic Shock – is a result of severe pain, or injuries to the nervous system. The blood pressure usually reduces.
E)	Hemorrhagic Shock – sudden loss of 12 to 25 percent of normal blood volume.
F)	Wound Shock – wound shock or traumatic shock is caused by wounding. The more severe the wound, the more severe the shock. Signs of severe shock.
1)	Skin pale, damp and cold all over.
2)	Hands and feet leave bluish discolorations.
3)	Systolic pressure 90 or below,
4)	Blood Pulse rapid, weak or may not be detectable.
5)	Respiration – rapid irregular, and shallow.
6)	Eyes – may have a vacant, dull expression, and the pupils are enlarged.
7)	Responses are sluggish, sometimes restless, excitable or delirious.

Treatment Of Shock
1)	Control bleeding
2)	Replacements of fluids to restore an effective blood volume and to prevent dehydration such as blood transfusions.

PS in the not to distant future I will host a class on this topic study up...

This is the threat whites face from these subhumans all the time. That black face hates you, have no doubt! This is why our ancestors lynched these apes, it's the only thing that gets thru that thick negro skull and small, savage negro brain. Blacks are no better than feral dogs and should be treated accordingly. This is in response to 5 niggers attacking a white kid on video:

From a thread on Assata Speaks.com:

http://www.wavy.com/global/story.asp?s=7117439

".............Yes it made all the sense in the world sista. I However I did enjoy watching the white boy get smashed!!.............."

".............Young Africans display this type of agression on a daily basis, i.e. gangs, crime amongst each other, its happens daily in our communities, matter fact Africans have been and are fighting each other all over the world.

I dont advocate nonsense violence, but when a young yt gets stomped by some young Africans, I will not get up in arms about it. I get up in arms about the destruction were doing to one anohter, could care less about the enemy. Yt's already and will always see us as inferior, inhuman animals, so by no means will this fight deter how they truly feel about us..UHURU............."

".....but in the meantime...kick the crakkas ass for old and new!!........."

".............Im sure Khalid Muhammad would have been as proud as I was to finally see on the news, Africans attacking a non African. Whether it is random or not to me is of no significance, it's time for a new direction. If our battle starved warriors want to attack crakkas, i will not stand in their way, but assist them in becoming more strategic , direct, defined and thorough!!..........."

".........It doesnt matter if they kicked his ass or not, UNJUSTICE is what exist and is prevalant in this society. So whether we sit down and obey or if we battle it out and take it to the streets, we still end up at the bottom in this system....so the struggle will always remain............."

"............The amerikkkan white man has never won a guerilla war, can't fight a guerilla war and we've never given them a real or legitimate war.

Those were sporadic acts of rebellion or what some call riots.

Shootin 22 rifles and throwin rocks and bottles is not war even though a few had sophisticated weapons and the best homemade weapons to fight with.

I mean who hasn't heard of the anarchist cookbook?............."
I have been reading your site regularly for about
> > a month now, and have enjoyed most of the
> > far-reaching opinions featured there. However,
> > mystery site 2 is the most offensive, backwards,
> > feces-smeared, inaccurate site I ever seen. This
> > site, the talking drum.com, is as bad or worse
> > than the Aryan Nation website. The only
> > difference is that it is black racism. And the
> > articles are just plain stupid. Any person that
> > can think or read above third grade level knows
> > that zionism is not white supremacy .
> >
> > The Africans that created and maintain this site
> > are no better than the Klansmen they preach
> > against. Jews have had to take more crap than any
> > black man. These imbiciles want to blame Jews for
> > their enslavement, want to stand up for the Arab
> > Muslims that sold their ancestors into slavery,
> > and apparently want to have minority rule in the
> > US. I thought your site was dedicated to
> > free-thinkers, and did not cater to closeminded
> > racists. Please do not become part of their
> > hatred. Jews have had to suffer at the hands of
> > Europeans and Arabs, to the extent of one madman
> > tring to extinguish the entire race. Two magor
> > religions are based on bastardization of the
> > Jewish religion, and Christians in particular
> > think they have the right to tell Jews how to
> > think and worship. If this is the actual leanings
> > of your site, please notify us that read the
> > articles on your site if you are going to promote
> > racism. If that is the case, I can stick to
> > Common Dreams and hated.net for my free-thinking
> > appetite. Thank you for reading my ravings, as a
> > Jew I was highly offended at the above referenced
> > website. Chris Roth
>

What started out as a school project for one of my children during African Heritage Month In 1998, turned into a personal family web site, with each family member having his/her slice of the pie. While designing these individual pages, 7 plus 1 intro page (Welcome to our World) all the page building, rekindled my interest in information about Africa and Africans on the 'net, to my surprise there were few sites, plenty of personal sites, with links that I liked, but very few committed to information about Africans from Africans, I started a links page for many of the personal sites had very long urls and I could never remember them all, We also had this long url for our site, http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/yourname/a/f/..... this was very difficult to remember any way, I had saved them all in my favorites folder, it was packed, I added the first set of links to a page I called "The Wisdom Page", it varied from George Clinton & The P-Funk Allstars to The Nation Of Islam, people began to send me links to add, The Wisdom Page got popular, so popular that my internet service provider (ISP) was sending me warnings about exceeding my bandwidth limitations, and in fact attempted to charge me for the so-called overage.

Early 1999 at or about this same time one of my favorite sites, www.blackpower. (I won't give out the extension, but you can figure it out) was having some type of problem and was up for sale, I thought , maybe I could purchase the domain name and keep it positive, the only criteria that they required was that it remained African owned and operated and pay for the domain name of course, after numerous e-mails........, lets just say they never responded with any positive information, and just shutdown! (they have new owners now)

In 2000 I was under intense pressure from my (ISP) from the bandwidth overages and decided to purchase www.thetalkingdrum.com I am a traditional African drummer and the drums have been suppressed for so-long, During the 1800's the drum was banned throughout most of the western hemisphere, for fear of unregulated communication amongst our People's and for fear of coordinated rebellions, due to its ability to communicate with our People's in code and great distances, thus for me, it became a perfect name for this site, for that is exactly what we seek to do, and that is how the name originated .

2001 enter Destee Design & Publishing Destee's skills and artistry is unmatched on the 'net today, I need a page just to describe all She has done, but I'll list them here, the flash movies, banner,, contact page and tons of other things including "Hosting" this 100-plus pages site on her re-sellers account for a year thanks Destee

2003/2004 our community continues to thrive and expand with many Warriors stepping up, taking the community to new heights, we are elated about the launching of Assata Shakur.Org on 12/04 the anniversary of the murder of Chairman Fred Hampton, after a year of discussion around it, Warrior Ifaeshun turned that idea into a reality, creating a resource center Sister Assata will no doubtablly love, which includes a Revolutionary Forum named Assata's Forum, which is currently up and running.

2004 also allowed us to host our own sites, eliminating some of the costs associated with re-sellers, it is also allowing us to realize many more ways to serve our People, without worrying about anyone's approval or dis-approval.

2004 also seen the coming together of The Anacostia Gazette hosted and created by Sister Queen Tyree and The awesome Afrikan.Net operated by Warrior King JahFree and Warrior Queen NattyReb these three Warriors were instrumental in the creation of The Talking Drum.Com, It is safe to say www.afrikan.net and www.ag-east.org are the Parents of www.thetalkingdrum.com and we are humbled with their interaction with us today.

BlackMic Voice Chat is where we have online workshops/classes/discussions all serving our People, to view the current schedule click here

PanAfrican TV which was launched on scheduled in June 2004 features audio / video and text of the major Pan-African Revolutionaries of the past, present and future this is Revolutionary in scope for there are many sites for lack of a better word "Pimping" liberation information without sending a dime to those who shed their blood, fled or are behind enemy lines.

PositivelyBlack.net was launched in mid June 2004 designed by Gifted Warrior and Artist out of LA Rasta of www.AhsheEtc.com PositivelyBlack.net features the compiled writings of our People's Valiant Warrior "Junious Ricardo Stanton" syndicated columnist and Afrikan radio activist who is featured on many stations including New Black City, Blake Radio, BlackMic Radio and Harambee Radio. www.positivelyblack.net is a living tribute and library to this prolific writers works we surprised him on the air during (Fathers Day) June 20 2004 on New Black City which featured The Talking Drum Collective members Sister Tyree, Brother Darnell, Rasta and myself stay tuned...
