    2. Short Time In Another Universe

      by , 01-25-2010 at 10:39 PM
Its good to be back with Assata Shakur. I just wanted to tell my brief time in what I call a parrallel universe. I dont know a 100% of what happened scientifically so I wont speculate too much that way. It was a little more than a year ago. I was walking in the wee hours of the morning in the middle of Tampa. A ended up meeting with someone and they said keep quiet because the doghnut shop people are allways complaining. About thirty minutes later me,the person I met with and her friend drove to the store and got some gas and when the clerk saw me I wasnt even recognizable to him. He didnt know who I was or ever saw me like so many others in the city. I havent felt that way since I was a child. It was weird.

      HAITI and H.A.A.R.P.

"My decision to destroy the authority of the blacks in Saint Dominque (Haiti) is not so much based on considerations of commerce and money, as on the need to block for ever the march of the blacks in the world." - Napoleon Bonaparte

I am not saying that HAARP does not exist, but what I do find is it was relatively convenient that Haiti, being the only Black administrated republic in the western hemisphere, has continued to suffer weather related and other "natural" disasters that have not been brought to bare on any other peoples in the world vis-à-vis the number of them, the relatively short time span in which they have occurred, and the

I was having a conversation with my friend last night and he was telling me about how many of the people he knew feel like it was simply ok to just give monies to a cause and feel good about that alone. He mentioned what ever happen to rolling your sleeves up and getting dirty. I agree with that statement, what ever happen to rolling your sleeves up and getting dirty? We may (or may not) send monies to Haiti but we won't put the effort into going to the store and getting supplies then going to the post office and sending supplies nor will we put the efforts into collecting supplies. We don't want to do the physical work required. Some of us won't lift a finger to do anything but have no problem pointing the finger and lifting a finger to type ...

The Controversy over PRECIOUS by Carl Dix and Annie Day

      posted by Redwinter

First of all thank you for the excellent article. I heard two sides of this story. Something odd sticks out to me though. Carl Dix and Annie Day of this article points out something unnerving.

      They say:

"Lots of people think the solution to all this is "strong male role models and father figures." And many have pointed to Precious in that "light" as well—that it's harmful because, whether it depicts reality or not, these are characters that shouldn't be highlighted."

      Come, come now...

Eyes Of The Rainbow Deals With The Life Of Mama Assata Shakur

"Like most poor people in the United States, I have no voice. The Black press and the progressive media, as well as Black civil rights organizations, have historically played an essential role in the struggle for social justice. We should continue and expand that tradition. We should create media outlets that help to educate our people and our children, and not annihilate their minds. I am only one woman. I own no TV stations or radio stations or newspapers. But I believe that people need to be educated as to what is going on and to understand the connection between the news media and the instruments of repression in America. All I have are my voice, my spirit and the will to tell the truth. But I sincerely ask those of you in the Black media, those of you in the progressive media and those of you who believe in truth and freedom to publish my story." -Assata Shakur

"Eyes of the Rainbow" deals with the life of Assata Shakur, the Black Panther and Black Liberation Army leader who escaped from prison and was given political asylum in Cuba, where she has lived for close to 30 years. In it we visit with Assata Shakur in Havana and she tells us about her history and her life in Cuba.

Gloria Rolando on "Eyes of the Rainbow":

"In the struggle of the African American people, many women's voices in the past and the present have always called for social justice, women who throughout the years have shown integrity and firmness in their principles. For... [Read More]
