Saul Initiated One Hell Of A Discussion

Posted 03-28-2008 at 10:59 PM by tyydae
Me and my husband went to see Saul in concert Wednesday. He was great.

Thursday evening, I drove to Chandler, Arizona to listen to him perform spoken word. I recorded bits and pieces of him discussing everything from his song "List of Demands" being used in a Nike commercial to Christianity.

He spoke about the war, the past, our vulnerability, blacks ability to overcome and move past, and his children. I know I'm missing quite a few things.

Anyways, I went back home and my husband and I listened to the recording. Afterwards, we laid on the floor and engaged in a two hour discussion about everything we had heard from Saul in the last two days.

My husband said a lot of things...

This is not Home!

Posted 02-11-2008 at 02:56 PM by tyydae
Me, my husband and children are all "gypsies." We love to move, relocate, experience new places, people, and communities. This constant moving does a great deal for our spirit, and mental state of mind.

With each new state we find temporary refuge in, we remain open-minded and truly thankful for the experience. Just last August, our family relocated to Arizona. In December, my husband and I had one of our "bedroom talks" and decided that we would not make Arizona our home. Even now, there are occasional discussions about moving back to Georgia (Atlanta to be exact). Even with this move, we both know from previous experience that Georgia will not be our home either. It will serve us well, because children are...

My dedication to Words

Posted 02-03-2008 at 09:01 PM by tyydae
Now, I’ll admit that my fixation with words is not typical of the average person, but it is this obsession that has kept me in touch with that world I tapped into several times as a child. Not only words, but also the feelings and meanings that was attached to the word, or the person delivering the message.

Now, how can I go about explaining this to you? As a child, I was in love solely with books and whatever it was that constantly revealed itself to me. Reading allowed me to travel to other worlds, and Jim Morrison has been known to say “Real Poetry doesn’t say anything; it just ticks off the possibilities. Open all doors. You can walk through anyone that suits you.” In my opinion, it’s not just poetry with that particular...

Who We Are.

Posted 01-27-2008 at 02:53 PM by tyydae
Who we are in life is not what we do on a daily basis. It is not what we wear, what we aquire or the places we go.

Yes, these all help contribute to our character but very little. Who we are, (our characters) are developed in small moments, fine moments. It is refined and made greater when the universe demands something from us and either we obey her or deny her which is in essence obeying or denying our GREATER selves. There is no way around this fact.

Your character is who you are when faced with a decision that you alone must makes, it seems like everyone around you have suddenly left the room. Why? Because this is YOUR moment.

Your moment alone with the universe. This is as close as you are...

Labeling

Posted 01-26-2008 at 01:06 AM by tyydae
Now and days, it seems like most people hate being categorized and labeled. Every time there is a discussion or debate at least two or three people says something like "people always think they know me" and "people are always trying to place me in a category. This has never been an issue for me because normally when someone tells me about myself, I already know. So, I've never really thought about it until last week when my sister kept telling me how everyone is so "quick" to label her.

After having the night to think and ponder on this issue I've come to a conclusion. That maybe the people doing the labeling are indeed correct. I mean, what do most people do better than anything else. FOCUS ON OTHER...
