| Obama to King: What an Insult! This is something I wrote a while back (11/19/2008) in my blog after seeing some much Obama merchandise comparing Obama to King. And since I was asked to post this the forum I did. ------------------------------------------- http://www.assatashakur.org/forum/bl...at-insult.html I just saw another t-shirt, poster, and calender with Obama and King on it... ARRHHH! Stop comparing Barack Obama to Martin L. King. They are not remotely same and political they are opposites. They do share one thing though they both are Black. Ok, they share two things, they both have Black wives but that is where the bus stops. Now passengers please watch your step as you exit. Simply put, King was a revolutionary, Obama is a politician. King forced political change in America, Obama hopes for change in America - a change in skin color but not policies. Before he was killed King’s last hope was the end of capitalism. How many racist think this automatically made him a communist but this was not the case he was against that too. He recognized capitalism, the current American economic system, was detrimental to the common man. He recognized that the "inseparable twin of racial injustice is economic injustice"”. Therefore he sought to end that system. Obama hopes to improve and expand capitalism, the economic system which King was against. King was for reparations, Obama is unsure. King was for building black institutions. Obama is the leader of the whitest and most racist institution in the world. One might argue Obama is the realization of King’s dream. If this is the case then so is Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and 100% of Blacks in America. The Civil Rights Act bill passed in 1964 and another passed in 1968 for housing racial discrimination these were some of the realizations of King’s I Have a Dream speech not a Black president. I beg you insulters to read the I Have a Dream speech. Below is a snippet: And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asKing the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "for whites only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. Even within this speech you can see some things have not been realized. He asked us not to be satisfied, “We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality.” Are you satisfied? “We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one.” Are you satisfied? “No, no we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.” Are you satisfied? "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. " - Dr. Martin L. King Jr. ------- I'm not even going to talk about the Obama propaganda with him compared to Malcolm X.
