Women of Color Conference 2006

"Angela R Clark" <aclark3@ad.uiuc.edu> 02/26/06 7:22 PM

Greetings Beautiful People!

The 17th Annual Women of Color Conference is being held on March 10-11, 2006 on the University of Illinois Campus.

Our theme for this year is "Nyame Dua: My Sacred Temple". Nyame Dua is an adinkra symbol which means: God's altar -which represents God's presence and protection. This symbol was chosen in belief that we as women should believe, affirm and live as the sacred temples of God that we are and expect others to treat us as such. I would like to extend an invitation to you to join us for this year's conference.

Our Keynote Speaker will be Minister Ava Muhammad, the first woman in
the Nation of Islam to head a mosque.
She has come to us highly recommended and we are excited that she has
agreed to join us for the conference.

Her Keynote presentation will be given during Opening Ceremonies on
Friday, March 10th at 6 pm in 228 Natural History
Building. As is our tradition, Opening Ceremonies is free and open to
the public. The cost for the conference this year is $10 for UIUC/Parkland
Students, Staff, and Faculty and $20 for all other participants.
For your convenience, I have attached a registration form.

This year's conference will include a Semi-Formal Stepper's Set, and a
full day of workshops concluding a special workshop by Namaste
Laboratories, the makers of Organic Root Stimulator hair care products.
There will specialists on hand to do hair care presentations and consultations for all our workshop participants. There will be giveaways, live entertainment and a fantastic time to be had by all.

Men are welcome to join us as well or surprise a wonderful woman in
your life by sponsoring her participation in the conference! We are also
looking for people to help sponsor the attendance of some of the ladies from
the Women in Transition Center, so if you can't come and would like to do
that we would love to have the support.

Just fill out your registration form and send/deliver it with payment in cash, check, or money order made
payable to:
