Amistad Legislation

"BABA S. IFATUNJI"
OK PEOPLE, I am forwarding a message I received from CCBS (Below)....The Chicago Council on Black Studies, prompted by Dr. Bart McSwine, encouraged Rep. Davis to introduce this Amistad Legislation. Please give it your support by contacting the Governor and telling him to sign it.

Baba

Greetings CCBS Members:

Per our Council Co-chairs, Ayana Karanja and Bart McSwine, Representative Monique Davis announced that the *Amistad Legislation has passed both Houses. The Legislation now awaits the Governor's signature. Our Council Co-chairs suggest we write or email the Governor, and ask him to sign HB 383 Amistad Legislation.

The Governor's contact information follows:

Website: www.illinois.gov/gov/contactthegovernor.cfm
Complete the Constituent Request Form, or call one of the following numbers:

(312) 814-2121 or (217) 782-0244.

*Note: The Amistad Legislation requires that all public and nonpublic schools include history of the enslavement of African people, and contributions Blacks have made to American society.

For more information, contact Ayana Karanja or Bart McSwine.

Imani
