Yes, he WAS the greatest, his talent will be greatly missed....in "Which Way Is Up?" when he was writing a letter home to his wife, he said "I would have sent money in this letter, but I already sealed the envelope" pure comedy!!! Although he was/is imitated OFTEN, NO ONE could/can get it right....May the ancestors greet him with open arms.

...i had no idea that he transitioned

...i am really surprised to hear this news as i know he was not that old, i remember as a young child my mother and i used to watch him on tv shows, laughing hysterically at his jokes, he was really one of the 1st blk comedians/entertainers that i was introduced to, after Oliver the jamaican comedian and actor and also Eddie Murphy. remembering the time that i came to know richard pryor always brings back memories of my childhood/early adolescence

...during that fragile time that i was truly searching for my self-identity and place in the world

as an Afreekan child growing up in the belly of the beast.

he will be greatly missed by many!!

Sad news ... one of the very few comedians that could very reliably make me cry while laughing. Hope he's in a better place, with all his faculties (and then some!) intact and thriving.
