Big Up the Bad Brains

I got to see them play many times over the years. For a while in the late 80s/early 90s they had a Tsalagi (Cherokee) bro playing drums for them.

I went to see them in the early 90's in Long Beach. It was really wild! Plus I used to see H.R. up in Leimert Park at 5th Street Dicks drinking coffee. In fact the first time I EVER went to Leimert Park...I saw H.R.! I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??? LOL

Don't be surprised, Bruh. I love conscious music/word regardless of form (assuming that's why you're surprised). Brang me some honky tonk conscious country music and I'll listen and enjoy. Heck, I think I own all of Rage Against the Machine's stuff as a matter of fact. Even Jello Biafra and Dead Kennedys. It's all about the message.

I have never heard Bad Brains. The punk rock label makes me suspicious about the instrumental.
Question: If the words of a song are conscious does that mean the song as a whole is?

Well...it's "punk rock"...so you are either going to get it or you are not. On a side note, the group is/was Rastafarians so they have a few reggae joints on their albulms as well.

Remember back in the day when they had the video show that would show one rap video at the end of the show, but before you could catch the rap video you had to sit through all the rock? LOL! Thats how they got me . So yeah...sometimes...when nobodies home...when nobody is looking...I lock the doors...close the blinds...turn off the lights...and rock out! Shhhhhhhh...don't tell nobody.

Lol, I've been a "rocker" for the longest. I can mosh with the best of 'em.

Bad Brains is hella nice though. I love the remake of the MC5 song they did with Henry Rollins called "Kick Out The Jams". Music like theirs REALLY get me amped.

Plus, "rocking out" is a good way to stay in shape.

RATM, System of a Down, Living Colour, Bad Brains, all of dem cats get me amped and just ready to bust the oppressor in the face. BAM!!!! Lol

Excellent find, RebelAfrika. Thanks!

Peace.
