New York , NY (April 3, 2006)Dead Prez has just been added to the list of 2006 REVOLUTION! Award honorees, joining filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris in this elite group of arts pioneers. Imagenation, in association with the Apollo Theater, presents the Imagenation's REVOLUTION Awards and Concert at Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theater on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.

This benefit concert and awards ceremony will be hosted by Essence magazine's Michaela angela Davis and M-1 of Dead Prez; featuring a live performance from Dead Prez, Burnt Sugar and others to be announced. There will also be a VIP reception with a special screening of Thomas Allen Harris award winning film "The Twelve Disciples of Nelson Mandela" . Proceeds from Revolution! will go towards opening the Imagenation Soul Cinema ; Harlem's first and the nation's only independent movie theater dedicated to films from the African Diaspora, scheduled to open later this year.

The REVOLUTION! Awards honors artists and industry leaders of color who use their works to inspire social change, help foster solidarity throughout the African Diaspora, blaze new trails or exemplify a dedication to independent cinema.

Previous REVOLUTION! award recipients include Chuck D, Stanley Nelson, Erykah Badu, Roger Guenveur Smith, Talib Kweli, Sherry Simpson Dean and Joe Brewster. Another honoree will be announced next week.

Imagenation was established in 1997 to counteract negative images and stereotypes that are propagated about people of color, through mass media; and, to establish a chain of independent art-house cinemas. Imagenation uses independent cinema and progressive music to foster solidarity and cross-cultural exchange throughout the African Diaspora, with special focus on the USA and South Africa.
