      peace.

missy elliot...WHEN known as missy misdemeanour..., used to be really just sick lyrically. If any of you have the ability to download anything.., download a track entitled "3 THE HARD WAY." Missy, I'm sure is on that track with the famous Bahamadia..and another "fem"cee. She was nasty back then, that early to mid 90s era was iLL....she spit nothin but raw lyricism., even known to a be a battlecat at times as well. These days, she maintains her originality.., gives shoutouts to pioneers of hiphop, and is definitely creative.., the only thing that is lacking on her behalf..is that..like most artists on the mainstream side of things today...her lyrics are kind of watered down.

female emcees that have to be recognized:

      Bahamadia <---come on yall!

LAURYN HILL *hands down, possibly the most versatile, talented, and has some of the sickest lyrics..regardless of sex, and is EXTREMELY CONSISTENT!!*

Njeri (did a couple tracks with the WU Tang, check GZA's album "BENEATH THE SURFACE, the track is called 1112...one of the illest tracks ever..and she finishes it off).

DA BRAT - one of the SICKEST when she's not playin around, peep Missy's 1st solo album...her collab with Da Brat..OMG...insanity. Seriously, it sounds crazy..but when she's not bs'n...lyrically she can deal rawizm.

      Queen Latifah

Missy Elliot -- when she's not playin around..

      the Real Roxanne

      HEather b

Lady of Rage --and yeah, she's originally from VA., not the West Coast

Lady Bug (from Digable Planets) ...slick..

The Gypsies (3 of em, verbally insane)

Floetry (in doubt of the madIzM...peep..POSSIBILITIES)

Rah Diggah (when she is with the other rap click, PhaRaoH Monche, Mos Def, and the rest of em...on that underground ish, she kills it everytime)

Ms Marvel (she collabs with Jeru the Damaja often...ill delivery, sick content, versatile)

MC Lyte (when she chooses to be serious)

Mari Cheri aka Dez (if u ever get out to philly, she's a must peep, has done shows for undergroundhiphop.com, collabed with some ill catz...aceyalone and bahamadia)

Xeaja (if u ever get out to NY, hehe..she's part of my group, and personally..I'd PAY money to see her and Lauryn Hill battle..., she has been signed before for singing with Arista records...she can blow, and she can spit...without being biased, she could possibly take out 2/3rds of the people on this list and any list we could come up with).

and that's all I can think of right now, and i didn't want to mention like female emcee pioneers yet..., im just addressin some real skill.

      peace

Yeah, you're right. LadyBug would give L Boogie a run for the money......IF she ever got the right track behind her. Love her style but her track were always so laid back.....

I would include ISIS, but shoe only had two records!!! As did Sista Souljah....The question wasn't who had the most POWERFUL songs, but who were the best Emcees....

and as much as I hate to admit it, and although I DESPISE her music, you'd have to include Lil Kim as one of the best Emcees as well. I know Ima catch flak for that one. But she does have skills (if nothing else)

Lady Bug is cool, but for me she doesn't have the same "vocal presense" as Lauryn. Lady Bug's style is too "soft spoken." Both are talented, but Lauryn's combination of lyrics and voice gives her the edge. In my opinion.

      MY LIST:

Lauryn Hill aka L-BOOGIE: I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS- SHE is right up there with RAKIM....& she can SOULSING!

Bahamadia:very deep into lyricism....I GOTS ta get my hands on her 1st single
GET WRECKED.THAT SHIT IS FIRE RIGHT NOW!!!

      Sister Souljah: REVOLUTIONARY BUT GANGSTA!

Mother Superia: She only came out with one single, nevertheless she ain't NUTHIN to fuck with.

Charlie Baltimore: SHE SPITS FIERCE VENOM*

      Lyte:Veteran emcee

      Queen Latifah: ***HIPHOP ROYALTY***

      Rah Digga: LYRICAL GODDESS

Missy Elliot: She PLAYS with it....if she was to get SERIOUS with her pen,she would TEAR SHIT OUT the WATER.
U know what though? Missy's FLOW is so PHENOMENAL,she mesmerizes me ANYWAY.

Lady of RAGE: DR.DRE was supposed to elevate her to ICON status like SNOOP & PAC,HOWEVER, that shit ain't go down for some mysterious reason. To this DAY I'M PISSED about that!

BONUS : LEFT EYE....Yeah, She was with an R&B trio, however, she was unquestionably RAW with her lyrics....what yall know about the joint she did with TUPAC? & who remembers that all female song *FREEDOM*?
      She ripped that too.

"shame but there are several very old school female rappers that i cant remember by name. there was one dark skinned sister that was the first mc to mix singing with rapping. she from NYC. she rocked the mid 80s hard. She had a T in her name."

you MUST be talking about MC TROUBLE {R.I.P.} She was on the HOUSE PARTY2 Soundtrack & she also did a joint with the GOOD GIRLS, an R & B duet that lasted for a hot SECOND. Anywaze, she was NICE with hers, & would've probably gained a decent piece of SUCCESS if she hadn't passed on.
