This lady is a "SUPERSTAR" is she on the same level as Ella Fitzgerald,
Billie Holiday, PATTI LABELLE, Sade, Anita Baker, Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce & Alicia Keys???

Week Ending April 13, 2008: A Big American Welcome For Leona Lewis
      1. Leona Lewis, Spirit, 205,000. This is the third highest weekly sales total of the year, topped only by the opening week numbers for Jack Johnson's Sleep Through The Static and Danity Kane's Welcome To The Dollhouse. Even so, "Bleeding Love" sold more downloads this week, even though it's been out for 11 weeks. Three other songs from Lewis' album rank among the week's top 100 downloads. "Better In Time" bows at #24, "Yesterday" opens at #86 and "I Will Be" opens at #100

Very pretty gal and nice vocal technique too no doubt but comparing her with Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday or even Sade is quite excessive to me. She is rather another version of a Beyoncé. Another product that the media/music majors have uniformized & marketed and which will perhaps sell well!

And no matter what game they play
We got something they could never take away
And it's the fire (fire), it's the fire (fire)
      That's burning down everything
Feel that fire (fire), the fire (fire)
No water could put out this fire (fire)

I'm a grown man not a boy in heat.
I made the remark based on her voice.
Almost every singer I had on that list had big critics.
I remember Sade came out and everybody had this to say and that to say, know Sade is legendary.

Leona Lewis has a great voice, there are to many woman out who get over dancing and with a rap hook.

Thank God, for the future Jordan Sparks young right now, hard for me to get into it, because her range is high school and college undergrads, but can sang.

No one here claimed you were in heat nor a boy.You need to take it easy because since you came amongst the family here their have been issues and conflict based upon some of the things you are posting here.A little friendly advice treat the family here the way that you want to treated. Check the hostility at the door, this is a family environment and it will stay that way.Peace & Blessings

      Peace...

bigdaddiej...totally agreeed. Light...we all want our opinions to be heard BUT we also have to be respectful of said opinions. I did look over this thread and no one called you or tried to refer to you as a boy. We are NOT going to have the same opinions on all matters but we WILL respect each others opinions. You ain't gotta like them but we will respect them.

Like bigdaddiej and other members have said we are a family here...we have no reason to call you a child or anything negative and/or derrogatory. If you have a problem please refer it to the appopriate thread...and feel free to express all of your opinions because we will...just don't always expect someone to agree with them just because.

      To answer your question, no.

No, she is not on the same level as any of the ladies you listed above, except Beyonce.

The difference is I feel Ms. Holiday, and Lady Patti. Anita makes me want to jump my hubby bones. Sade exposes me to other worlds. However,

I'm glad you decided to keep Ms. Simone off of your list of targets, Light. Because things would have gotten dark for you pretty quick.

      I kid...I kid
      Peace!

Just checking making sure letting ya"ll know I wasn't sweat'en
Leona Lewis because she sexy that's all. Heard her sang Summertime &
I Will Always Love You, that Pre-Grammy First Time Performance let's just say if I had a record label and the A&R passed on her, and she sang like that, I would have had to get another A&R because their job is to scout and ultimately sign exceptional acts. And Leona is very exceptional.
