Askari X's first album is called "Ward of the State" and it is EXTREMELY difficult to find. I have it on audio tape and I am "desperately" trying to find a way to transfer it to cd to preserve it and to make further copies of it.

"Ward of the State" came out in my senior year of high school (1993). I was 18 and Askari X was 16 (he should be 28 now). He was "literally" a "ward of the state" once, and the album was supposed to be talking about alot of "real s***" that was going on in his life. He was fighting a legal battle not to get returned to CYA (California Youth Authority) at the same time that his album came out.

Askari X's crew was named the "RBG's" (Righteous Black Guerillas). This was in 1993...LONG before dead prez came out.

Askari X was also a member and proponent of the African People's Socialist Party. It was from HIM that I first heard of APSP.

Askari X was also a member of the Ansar El Muhammad (not to be confused with the Ansarullah Community). Not as well known as the Five Percenters, but very similar.

"Ward of the State" is probably one of the most "vicious" albums I have ever heard. To this day, I've never heard an album that has responded to white supremacy on his level. I've tried over and over to describe what I get from Askari X, (particularly this album), but this is the BEST summary I can come up with (there's no other way I can put it) and that is...Askari X wants to see the SLOW and PAINFUL death of every last white man, woman and child anywhere they may exist in the universe. *shrugging shoulders*

Yes, Askari X also goes by the name Rickey Murdock. He appears on a lot of different Bay Area compilations Cell Block is the name of one as well as A few of the Delinqeunts albums. Ward Of The State, Message To Black Man And The Return Of Rickey Murdock are his three albums, The last one was dropped In 2000 but you would swear when you heard his first album sound like It was made just last week. His albums very well put together from begining to all the way threw, Even other Ethnicities aknowledge Askari X and where I'm from Oakland, Ca They are all classics.

Now days you can find most of his works online If not there's A store In Berkeley, Ca called Rasputin's That works well with local artist. Yeah I know It's hard to find. It's nice to know that other people diggin Askari X, The brother is hard on the mic. I'm sure If he had A video more people would know about him. Hopefully the Information shared here was helpful.
