Greetings! ImHotep!
I've been listening to the illustrious Claud Anderson this evening and I am troubled by his mind set. So. . . . I would appreciate y'all shedding light on my question -- can we attain Powernomics if we fail to recognize our own mental blindnesses?
In a nutshell:
Dr. Anderson talks about the 1710 Virginia law that ostensibly began the destruction of what little amount of community the broken tribal groups and families [Afrikans] brought here had managed to create for themselves. He then goes on to describe the syndrome he calls "inappropriate behavour."
He tells a story about two yt cops that find two young Afrikan-born-in-Amerikka males in a hotel room w/2 yt chicks. For 2 days the cops beat the 2 males. On the 3rd day the cops decide to kill the males and one cop takes a rifle and hits the oldest of the 2 males in the head w/the butt. He knocks one eye completely out of its socket, bulges the other eye out of its socket and proceeds to break the rifle butt. . . . the male then crawls on the floor, finds the fallen part of the rifle butt and while on his knees, offers it to the cop and apologizes for having such a hard head. Dr. Anderson then says that the apology was "inappropriate behavour" and the male should have asked, "why are you brutalizing me and trying to kill me. . . I haven't done anything to you?" Dr. Anderson goes on to say that the hotel was in a "Black" neighborhood, the young people had paid for the room and
"what they were doing was between them and god."
In absolute outrage, I shouted at the computer, "Hell, sleeping w/yt chicks was the inappropriate behavour!!!!!"

and I wonder why the good doctor didn't see/feel that? Later he talked about the Willie Lynch programing and how it divided and conquered our minds and caused further "inappropriate behavour" in the actions of "Black women getting into the feminist movement and competing against Black men for jobs and the ability to take care of their families!" Imagine that -- Black women wanting to take care of THEIR families and cutting Black men out of jobs with no mention of how far too many Black men during the so called feminist movement were defending THEIR right to marry yt chicks, make mixed kids and turn THEIR backs on the Black community. Who was supposed to take care of the Black families abandoned by Black men? Why were Black men and women competing for jobs anyway? Why wasn't the Black community developing jobs, industry, etc. to take care of itself??????
So. . . . I need assistance in understanding how our prominent, dedicated, well-meaning scholars, etc. can facilitate or at least spark a movement for mental liberation [which is the only way we can get to the next steps of total liberation] when their own internalized chauvinistic, sexist thought patterns which reek of self-hatred haven't been addressed and corrected?
Please help me comprehend this phenomenon. Asante sana!
