Why do AA's think they are african

And just digging into this a little deeper; “African American” (if we want to use this term for context) is a very broad and collective term, that includes Africans from the most northern parts of Canada to the most southern regions of South America, with Black Cubanos, Brazilians, Haitians, and all other Diasporic African cultures in-between!

There are African cultural practices especially when it comes to religion and music that are still found amongst diasporan Africans in Cuba and especially Brazil that have been lost to Africans in the continent. As a matter of fact, I had read somewhere about African-Brazilians who go back to West Africa and share some of the traditional practices they still have been able to maintain that are now lost to their brothers and sisters in the continent.

Some--not all--continental Africans make it their duty to guage and qualify the extent to which we are African. Absurd!

Remember, because you are born on a land mass does not make you “necessarily” connected to it’s land or it’s ancestral history.

And also since Africans in the continent, did not always envision themselves as one all inclusive and defined people, i.e., Africans until recently in the continents most ancient history, the same question can be ALSO posed to an African born in the continent!

So how do Africans in the continent know they are Africans?

The arbitrariness of the location of one's birth is what makes the "physical origin" argument problematic.

Simply being born on the continent does not make one African. europeans, asians, and others are born there, too.

And, there are definitely a number of continental "Africans" who'll out-French the French and out-British the British in terms of cultural orientation. And, in time, there'll be Africans who'll out-Chinese the Chinese! This adoption of foreign cultures and imperatives often necessitates a gradual, and sometimes drastic, transformation of native cultures and imperatives.

this seems to be a mindset among a few AA's. the idea they are african althought their connection to the continent was cut off centuries ago. why do u think u are african? skin color, genetics?. pls answer
