What made Prince Ibrahim so remarkable was that he knew 7 languages
before he was enslaved. He had studied at the university at Timbuktu,
which was the Harvard of its time, and mastered science, botany,
theology, and politics. When the Prince was enslaved the Europeans could
not believe he was an "African" since he was literate and educated. The
European went so far as to even try to classify him as a "tanned" Asian.
