I stopped attending MLK celebrations about three years ago. Sad, but true. I noticed that the topics and leaders only focus on MLK's contributions to the past. What he stood for, what he died for. How important it is to remember his legacy.

Not one time, have someone stood up and passed the baton to us. The last one I attended was in Ga (after the death of Kenneth Walker) and it was a sad day. The president of the NAACP, a few professors from Columbus State, and a few radio personalities all sat on the stage talking about a man that was dead, gone and damn near forgotten.

It was pathetic, sad and a damn waste of my time.

Funny you should mention that. I was on the news that night, because of something I yelled up at the panel. After I engage in a three minute dialogue, I was invited up on the stage, which I remained until the end of the celebration.

Afterwards, I was invited to join at least three different organizations. I followed through with two of them, and realized they too, were not for me.
