RALLY FOR MUMIA AT THE JUSTICE DEPT!

On Thursday, November 12th, supporters of Mumia Abu-Jamal, the incredible ‘Voice of the Voiceless," will steamroll into Washington, D.C. to the Justice Department, demanding the Justice Department take over the imperiled journalist’s case in the interests of justice.
For years, Abu-Jamal’s lawyers and supporters have been trying to get new exculpatory evidence of the case into court. However, former President Clinton implemented the Expedited Death Penalty Act in 1996 to limit the chances of death row defendents to appeal their cases based on new evidence. The courts have used this ruling and other bogus legal devices to prevent any new evidence or any outstanding constitutional issues from truly being heard.
Zayid Muhammad of the New Black Panther Party will participate with the NY delegation.
There will be a 11am press conference and 1:30pm rally and presentation of papers to the Justice Department.
The letters and rally are to demand that a full civil rights investigation be launched with regards to the case.
This incredible effort comes against the background of the Philadelphia DA seeking to reinstate Mumia’s death sentence.

FUNDRAISER FOR SUNDIATA!

On Saturday, November 14th, the Sundiata Acoli Freedom Campaign, along with a host of others, including the New Black Panther Party’s national minister of culture Zayid Muhammad, will host a fundraising dance to benefit the elder freedom fighter, now in his 36th year of wrongful incarceration.
The proceeds will aid his efforts to secure parole in 2010.
This fulfilling event called ‘Freedom Dance for Assata and Sundiata,’ will take place at the Martin Luther King Labor Center, 310 West 43rd Street in Manhattan.

A NIGHT FOR CUBA!

On Wednesday, November 18th, the New Black Panther Party will host a special teach-in on Cuba!
The event is simply being called ‘A Night for Cuba! A Night for Assata, Sundiata, Cuba and the Cuban 5ive! When Afrika Called, Cuba Answered!’
It will take place at Waset Kommuniversity, 271 So. 9th Street, Newark.
Special guests for the evening will be Prof. Sam Anderson, the author of the critically acclaimed Black Holocaust For Beginners and Jersey’s own Rev.Lucius Walker who has been withstanding a prosecution by the Treasury Department for his coordination of the US-Cuba Friendshipment Caravan whereby millions of tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Cuba in spite of the age-old travel embargo. As an act of civil disobedience, the Caravan has done so annually since the 1990s.
Doors will open at 6:30pm.
“We must seize the time. Cuba has done so much for the Afrikan world. In this new period of history, we must boldly go after this dinosaur of empire that is the blockade and deposit it in the trashcan of history where it belongs,” declares Zayid Muhammad of the New Black Panther Party.

LOOKING AHEAD!

On Wednesday, December 2nd, the New Black Panther Party will host a special people’s teach-in to observe the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Black Panther legend Fred Hampton.
The gathering will simply be called ‘A Night for Chairman Fred,’ will feature New Black Panther Party’s national minister of culture Zayid Muhammad and some surprise guests.
Fred Hampton was the chairman of the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party, one of the Party’s biggest chapters at the time with enormous potential for growth. Many say that ‘Chairman Fred,’ as he was so fondly called, was assassinated at the time because he was due for national leadership consideration and his impeccable presence and powerful people-centered approach to organizing was perhaps just too threatening at that level.
He and Mark Clark were gunned down in cold blood by Chicago police officers on December 4, 1969.
“What Fred was doing was so instructional to what we are trying to do now around street violence it’s just unbelieveable,” exclaimed Zayid Muhamad for the New Black Panther Party.
