      Many Thanks for Your replies.

Sis Azania...Nefertiti Books and Gifts closed toward the end of the summer. It was short notice. It was a shock and a dissapointment to Me, to say the least. I know the Sister that owned it, but the only way that I could get in touch with her was via the shop. I saw her at the Black Expo back in November 2005, I spoke to Her and She seems to be doing well...

For everyone that is coming to the upcoming meetings, I look forward to linking up with you.

      Greetings! ImHotep!

Asante sana for the response! I know sista and family! She attended meditations at my home for a while when I lived in JAX. And I spent many hours at the store with her after the arrival of son number 2! I've got to find her email address. . . .

Anyway, I will be making a pilgrimage to JAX sometime this year -- I generally do at least once a year -- and will contact you with the details once I get them!

      Living In Love

I love to see my people living in love
I hate to see them fighting & swimming in blood
Nuff neglect the farming, the scorning the mud
Yet they want to be the first to reap the fruit as it bud (OH!)
They fill the earth with prison, church, and whore house
Love the rum bar, yet them hate the pure house
Dem take the microchip and now a wrath a pour out
Less food, more drought and more mouth (oh)

Rasta tell dem all the while
Stop war and go till the soil
Stop fighting for land and oil
Fi di coil so many go defile
Slave master spit inna dem face dem tek dat wit a smile
Di banks of the nile so mild and so fertile acres more than a zillion mile
People acting vile pick up cannibal style
wah devour mama, papa, and child, (oh)

      Reaction to School Board Meeting

      0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
      Dear Family,

After sitting through a two hour gathering at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday evening January 12, 2006 to meet the new superintendent of the Duval County School District, it validated for me, the reasons for the failure of public education and the increase in prison growth.

The meeting was sponsored by the Jacksonville Branch NAACP and it took on the flavoring of four different cultures; black, white, rich and poor. The audience
was predominantly African American and the Duval County School District Representatives were racially mixed and eager to please the audience, as well as those looking to please the superintendent. However, after I made comments as one of the first audience speakers, on how too many of our poor schools are feeders for jails, many in the audience seemed to agree by their facial
expressions, but a select few had already made up in their minds that all is well and just look at me.

How frightening I thought and how come we don't have more people present, that are affected by failing public education, schools and increased criminal/juvenile justice matters. After pondering these question over and over in my mind, I went back to a similar meeting I attended when I was a young parent and heard a speaker say, if the system fails, it's because of people that sit by and wait for others to make decisions for them.

Because many African American, poor parents and guardians do not attend gatherings such as this, you continue to empower those that continue to empower themselves and they continue to speak as if all is well and their program is what's needed for you and your babies.

To further this conversation, a lady from Queens, New York wrote to me yesterday and said, we know the history of the disparities, but what is the action plan and my response to her was, keep doing what you are doing to make a difference and others will see your works and join in.

If you receive and read this message, do not act as if it's something from the outer limits. It's as real as the thousands that travel weekly to visit love ones in jails and prisons across this nation, attending funerals of our young children much to often and allowing some elected officials to search for money to build and support quality public schools and education, but not a problem when building a new jail, courthouse, another country, or new sporting facilities.

"Let us not claim failure with these conditions and know, a movement is taking place, and your help and support is needed".
