Arrow Avocado

Avocado

Y'all sleeping on this fruit?

Don't because avocado is truly a nutritional powerhouse.

It stores B-Vitamins, Essential Fatty Acids, an important anti-oxidant called glutathione (the liver uses glutathione as a very potent, if not the most potent, detoxifier), some Vitamin C and many essential minerals. It also contains lutein which is the pigment that gives it that greenish color. Lutein is an important nutrient for the eye, it concentrates in the macula and protects it from oxidative stress (free radical damage).

It is such a versatile food as well. I use it like butter. You can put it on basically anything.

Salads, sandwiches, soups etc...

It is a high energy food as well.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm... just bought some avocado today, but the market was so crowded i forgot to ask for rippen ones, now i have to wait a couple of days.

my favourtie recipe with avocado is, of course, guacamole, i prepare one of the best guacamoles on this earth! . Also i mostly use it for salads, but i tried, for example, with spaguetti, creating a tasty sauce with avocado and cheese cream. hmmmmmmm

note: it goes perfect with big amounts of garlic! and lemon

lol! ok

ELISA GUACAMOLE RECIPE

There is some controversy regarding guacamole's recipe. some poeple from different countries prepare it differently and are very sensitive about it!
So, first of all i want to say this is only the way I prepare guacamole, surely not better "than.." and not the only possible.

Ingredients: (amount for two avocados)

- 2 avocados
- 2-3 garlic gloves
- 3spoons olive oil
- salt
- 1/4 onion or less
- 1 fresh tomato
- 1/2 lemon
- mayonnaise (optional)
- fresh coriander
- cayenna (optional)

Preparation:

- Cut the avocados into pieces and mash them with a fork until its smooth
- chop the tomato and add it. the amount is optional, but half a big tomato should be more than enough, you want it to taste as avocado.
- chop the onion. I only use a tiny portion of onion cause i dont like raw onion too much and i think the flavour is too strong. but if you love onions go ahead...
- chop the garlic gloves
- put the chopped onion and garlic into a mortar and grind it along with olive oil and the coriander. I use like three spoons of olive oil. Add the mix to the avocados
- Add salt at your taste
- add about 1spoon of lemon juice
- Optional: add between half and 1 spoon of mayonnaise (Note: adding mayonnaise can be highly offensive for some sensitive poeple. Better not do it if you invite "experts". LOL. I personally love the taste and texture it provides, and its also a way to increase the amount of guacamole when you think you dont have enough. remember avocados are expensive (here in spain), mayonnaise is not)

mix everything a lil bit more with the fork, add the spicies you like (ex: cayenne, paprika, chile..) and you are ready!

It goes fine with toast bread, chips, patacones (fried plantain), rice, etc...
