peace yall... i'm with u sis. la bella afrique.

sistas, lets get a discussion going...

which one of our legendary sister leaders in the fight for freedom do you identify with most? i'm currently reading assata's biography and the deeper i get into her story, the more i see myself in her. her heart for the people, her sincerity, her pride, even her up bringing..so many things i can identify with.

do you see any of yourself in assata? which other sisters in the struggle can you identify with? how can we draw from their energy to stir us to continue the fight?

      (eagerly awaiting your beautiful responses)

Peace Sisters. First, I have to say that I wish this group was a lot bigger, but am happy to see you all coming together to try and bring forth change and upliftment.

Second, I've come here in search of information. I wanted to know if any of you knew much about natural pregnancies and natural diets during and after pregnancy.

      Peace!

There was a discussion on BET about women and hip hop that then funneled into a discussion of misogyny and the Black church (and mosque). A reverend on the show stated that black women would prefer a black man to a black woman as a leader despite the Black church being comprised of mostly women. This isn't an exact quote but this pious man stated: Women would prefer a large black male leader to Sistah So and So. What's your opinion...on his statements, the church or even black majority institutions and the place of women in them? I would appreciate your thoughts, your quips, your agreement, et cetera. Anything other than your indifference. Thanks.

Looks like there haven't been any messages since 2008, I am hoping that changes. I am eager to have ongoing discourse with other Black women.

I am curious about the differences or similiarities in relationships among Black american women, and Black women of different regions. In canada I have observed the differences with women from the continent, by religion, region, tribe, all which engender degrees of separation. For some regions and groups, colour is more significant, others it is class that is the primary, and still others religion. Please share your experiences.

I am also interested in the diversity in how we view relationships. So I am open, if anyone wants to share, about that as well.

For me, I have always found monogamy unusual, and found some philosophical home with some of my West African female friends in their regions histories.

For now, I am just hoping to stimulate discussion and sharing again.
