What Works in Your Community?

Leading by example is what works for me. In my community, I have no idea -really could care less.

As far as raising the awareness of individuals I keep things on a tight leash. I focus on my children and husband.

I have no real influence on my family because I live on the other side of the states.

Glad I saw this thread . I'm still trying to get it together and I've gotten some good ideas here. Now I just need to figure out how to move forward.

I try to pass of the Dead Prez cd to my friends, too. Although it is difficult to pass off conscious music like the ,"Let's Get Free" ,album compared to the main stream rap. On the other hand, I try to pass books to my brothas and sistahs. I most often pass of the book ,"The Goddess Blackwoman" by Akil to my sistahs for years now. Unfortunately, books by celebrities like Steve Harvey get more acceptance. In addition, I have many audio speeches of of Malcolm, Fred Hampton, etc and try to pass it on. Unfortunately, some of our people are not ready to hear something that is totally different from what history (HIS-STORY) has miseducated them. Although, I still push on!

I would actually like to start a militia in my city...or community if even. Finding like minded people in the area is the tough part. This is another reason I joined the site. We need something like this in Houston. Especially if another hurricane was to hit and leave so many of us without. We need security that we can trust, as well as, a chance to educate. Educate others on survival tactics,self-defense, arms, and revolutionary warfare. He who fails to plan...plans to fail.
