Our 2nd National Nkurobo Nhyiamu (Youth Conference) in Atlanta, GA

Greetings everyone!

My name is Kweku, representative for Nkurobo Youth Organization and we are hosting our 2nd Nkurobo Youth Conference in Atlanta, GA! Last year's conference was HUGE SUCCESS and we appreciate everyone who participated and brought their positive energy during that weekend. Please come out (once again) and support our youth organization who has diligently planned and put together this event for the youth of the Afrikan Diaspora to come together, dialogue and find solutions to how we must carry the work and dedication of our ancestors, elders, parents and community to the next level! These are the events that will be happening in this weekend of UMOJA (Unity) and UJIMA (Collective Work and Responsibility).

This year's theme will focus on the Example and Modern Day Presence of our Ancestor Mothers: Afrikan Women who were our greatest examples. How can we learn and apply their example to what we deal with today as Afrikan people? What situations did they deal with that are similar/different to ours? The Ancestor Mothers (and their lives/work) brings all of us to the crossroads. Do we live in balance between the masculine/feminine, men/women, humans/earth etc. Why is that important to move forward as a people? (and many more questions on various levels). The sessions will now be scenario based: interactive situations will be set up to convey ideas, get reactions and provoke discussions.

This year not only do we have adult sessions (from last year) but we will have workshops for younger children 6-12 years of age. Nkurobo in the past 3 months has expanded to include children of that age, so bring EVERYONE to participate (there will be activities for everyone, not just teens). Medase.
