Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire, delivered a
lecture on the history of United States foreign policy towards the
central African nation of Sudan. This talk was given at the Unitarian
Universalist Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan on Sunday, June 24,
2007.

Azikiwe examined the current crisis in Darfur within the context of the
American quest to dominate the extraction and marketing of oil resources
in Africa, the Middle-East and internationally.

The PANW editor examined the impact of the discovery of vast amounts of
oil in Sudan on that nation's economy and its political standing
internationally. The role of China and the former colonial power of the
United Kingdom are analyzed in the ongoing efforts by the Bush
administration to impose sanctions and create the pretext for military
intervention in this oil-rich African state.
